Flight to London-Zoom Airline-uncomfortable, unbearable-too long, no sleep! Jack is the only one of us who managed to sleep at all. We landed at Stanstead-train to London-tube to South Kensington station- short walk to Mark Cranwell's flat-97 steps up up to Flat #6. Dumped our stuff, splashed cold water on our faces and out the door-Kensington Gardens-Lady Di's Palace.... read more

Here's a couple of contact numbers for the next couple of days, maybe longer, but they're cheap sims that dont let us call international, so we may not be able to recieve calls once outside the UK, who knows, but they'll be good up until at least the morning of the 19th (european time of course) Kane: +4479 6297 5281 Matt: +4479 6289 5146... read more

Its been a hard days night, and I've been working like a dog.... Love, Love me do, you know I love you.....All you need is love, da, da, da, da, da.....Sing along with me........ Ahh the Beatles, bringing back memories anyone? I happen to be a child of the seventies who for some strange reason, never really emerged from the era, oh well, I'm not ashamed to admit it, and I'm thrilled to say, we took a stoll across a famous pedestrian crossing where the brilliant Beatles filmed their clips, out the front of Abbey Road Studios! Woohoo! Actually, to be honest, its not all that, without the beatles actually standing on the crossing, it looks just like any ordinary crossing.....funny that! But nonetheless, we've posed there now, and thats what counts. So, our weekend consisted ... read more

Well, so far, the UK has been a blast, with so much action (and drinking) its hard to know where to start, though the beginning would probably be a good place. Upon arrival at Vasteras airport on thursday, we met up with an irishman named Paddy (his actual name) and proceeded to have a few pre-flight beers at his insistence. We then found seats on the plane together, along with a german girl named Andrea who we had also met in the terminal. The first order of business after getting into the air was moving closer to the centre of the plane where the drinks were to be served from first. Our first order consisted of 2 beers each, and two shots of whiskey, which i shit you not, came in plastic bags. So after downing ... read more

Apparently as soon as someone stops to ask you for directions, you are then considered a londoner. Not sure what the rule is on actually being able to help them or not, cos our answer in all cases has been a rather useless, 'sorry, no idea', but nonetheless, we've now had three queries, so we're proud that we must atleast blend in like locals. Actually, we could be considered locals, as we actually put off doing the night bus tour, the one we mentioned in the last blog, due to, well, laziness for one, and the whole 'but we live here, you dont do touristy stuff in your home town' (considering we've never even been on the old bendigo talking tram, this theory runs true) thing. But we did get around to it last night (finally) ... read more

And six monthes until my 22nd Birthday!!! Geez I feel old today. Got up early and got ready for class. I went to Foundation house to find out that my 1000a class started 30 minutes earlier! And the great thing about it was that every other person in my BLC class from SNC was late as well! I laughed! Class was alright, but then after class I went to an empty classroom to work on my final paper for history. Which all that I got completed was the research. Then, when i got done with that, i had to go on the field trip to the British Museum. It was pretty lame, well, the tour was. The British Museum was fascinating, but I have already been there a few times and have seen the things i ... read more

Today we all slept in for some reason. All of my roommates and I slept.in and so did the other people on our floor. It was really weird because none of us went out at all. We all for the most part were just tired, i guess, so we slept in. So, I decided to start my paper for History on Queen Victoria, but then I got distraced. We watched American Idol because they show it here on Sundays a few weeks behind the schedule in the US. But, we watched TV and we did homework and I had four final papers to do, and i was putting it off. I went to grocery store to get some food and to starbucks to get coffee. I was downstairs in the common room doing my paper and ... read more

So this week really made me see why it is called "study" abroad. I spent most of the time studying and doing homework. But, even when I was studying, I was also online IMing on AIM, checking e-mails and listening to online radio! Then, I realized all the work that I have been doing this week, would really equal probably one day of homework at SNC! Crazy, huh? Unfortunately I don't have any pictures to add to this entry either, so it just goes to show what kind of a BLAH week it has been in ye ole Londontown. Monday- BLC! We talked a lot about religion and media. And it was interesting because I had been to the Anglican Church the night before. I got my first paper assignment and began to start working on ... read more

I got up early and showered and went to an Anglican Mass! It was surprisingly similar to a Catholic Mass. However, the church consisted of 30 people present. But they people were very friendly! Now, contrary to common analogies of the churchgoing population. There were probably 10 elderly people, 10 middle-agers and 10 people under age thirty (those ten do include myself and the 3 altar servers). But the population at this church was a lot more diverse than what I was expecting. After church I went and got my groceries for the week at Sainsbury's! Pretty good stuff. then I went for breakfast at Cafe Deco, which is probably my favorite place on Gloucester Road! So, cute and so GOOD. Best cup of coffee you can get for a pound!!! Then I just walked around ... read more
