Early morning start for our flight to New York. Flight went really well. The New York airport has been closed in recent days due to large amounts of snow fall, but all seems ok now. There is much snow around the city. Looks like they had 4 – 5 inches of it. George has recently been allocated gold membership of American Airlines. This carries certain privileges and means that we can now sit in the economy plus section of the plane with upgraded meals and service etc. This made the 8 hour flight a lot more comfortable. Got a yellow taxi from the airport to the hotel. For the fixed price, our taxi driver took us for a detour through the Queens area of New York which is an area we have not ventured into before. ... read more

Luckily it occurred to me to check my flight itinerary in between skype calls with friends in the US last night...because I am leaving for India a day earlier than I thought. All's well that ends well, being at the Jevon's for a night, Mummy very sweetly, took me to my hotel at Heathrow Airport, Helena and I said farewell in the wee hours of the morning as she is off to Kent for appointments this week. Her parents welcomed me like one of their own. Left behind my winter clothes and have my packs ready...:) Helena and I spent about 5 hours driving on New Year's day intending to go to Glastonbury, ended up North near the Lake district versus south, stopped at a service area for grounding and clarity while I explored the service area...there ... read more

Dear Mr Branson I appreciate with your billionaire lifestyle, and an accrued wealth that allows you to buy entire islands, it will be difficult for you to imagine how life is for those of us who have to save for months to go on holiday. However as a portion of your wealth was accrued through the custom of the “one foreign holiday a year” customer, I would greatly appreciate it if you would indulge me and attempt to understand how Virgin’s poor customer service, lack of incident recovery process and clear policy of only doing the bare minimum is affecting your passengers. I was one of many passengers held on Virgin flights at Heathrow on Saturday 18 December for an entire day , then told the flight was cancelled and eventually instructed to leave Heathrow without ... read more

So I finally got out of Heathrow airport and am now snug in Hatfield just outside of the city. So...my flight redirected to Stansted and then I waited three hours for my luggage and then traveled by train to Heathrow. It only took a totally reasonable 8 hours! After that I spent the night and much of the next day in the terminal before I was rescued by a friend of a friend. Thankfully a family friend put me up at her house just outside the city so I could wait out the four days until my flight goes out. Things are looking good at the airport now so hopefully I will get out of England on the 23rd! While I wait Kath and I have been to visit a couple local landmarks like Hatfield house ... read more

My worst experience so far with any airline Friday 17/12/2010 I have booked a flight month ago to travel to my parents for Christmas with BA from Heathrow T5. Thankfully there were no crew strikes this time but there was bad weather. I arrived at the airport in time. While I was waiting to drop-off my bag it was announced that due to the high number of cancellations there is no rebooking facility in the terminal. I dropped-off my luggage and went for shopping. At that time my flight was OK. I was waiting for the gate number. The loud-speakers were constantly announcing that we should go to gate A11 if our international flight got cancelled and leave the terminal. Very well, I felt lucky that I am not hit with these issues but suddenly when ... read more

(L) We made it!!! A rather long journey with two idiotic women moaning how 'disgusting' it was eating breakfast AND lunch - I sat there staring throwing mcoys thai chicken crisps in my mouth then we proceeded to sing along rather loudly to the ipod! We made it to Euston. We decided to nip out and the stupid barrier swollwed our tickets so we had to buy new ones :( luckily there was a small caf outside that provided us with a gorgeous smoked salmon and cream cheese bagel. I love going through the underground and checking out all the stage shows, I MUST come down to see one next year *HINT HINT Paulie*. There was a fab Gospell Choir singing christmas songs in the terminal which really cheered me up. Then after a slight mishap ... read more

Today – 9th November 2010 – marks the beginning of our one year long journey! Sitting on a Cathay Pacific flight, we’ve said our goodbyes and are facing a 22 hour flight on which Poonam will watch six movies back to back and I gracefully do three with some sleep as well! The last couple weeks and days before we left, flew by like a Formula 1 race! So much so that we didn’t have the opportunity to tick of everything on the to-do list including seeing and speaking to everyone we wanted to. However, we did have a send off that is going to stay in our memories for longer than the next twelve months. Thank you to everyone that was able to make it to our leaving drinks and made it an excellent night ... read more

Day 1 in the big brother house........ No seriously it really is our first day of travelling, and with a plane yet to lift off the ground it already feels like an adventure. we planned to stop once on the journey up, in reality we stopped 4 times. Now we either drank way to much or were seriously nervous... il let you decide. luke managed to ask "where are we!?" about ten times, and we hadnt even reached london. probably the last time for a while we could actually tell him!! mikes demands of meeting a celebrity were answered in the form of one of the judges from masterchef, although none of us could recall his name. he looked mad though. had about enough time to wander through the city that is heathrow departure and grab ... read more
