Why Do I Travel?? Why do i insist on forcing myself to go these places, on my own? Why do i reject the social norm of a holiday actually being an occasion where you have nothing more to worry about than whether to sit by the pool or the beach that day? These are but a few of the questons i seem to be asking myself lately, as i frequently wake in the middle of the night in beads of sweat, coming to terms with the reality that i am in fact flying to India in less than 3 weeks. I'ts not as if i haven't travelled before, including Asia. It's not that i'm going on my own. It's the stepping so far from my comfort zone. It's the not knowing where you'll be sleeping that ... read more

So, the last time i wrote anything, we were still on Byron and Mikey was on his way back to Brisbane to pick up our new van.... chilling on the beach was a lot of fun, until the thunderstorm came in......and with Mikey nowhere near Brisbane yet, Luke and i seemed very homeless. luckily, luke lost all his pride weeks ago, and has no problems asking for anything. this came in very handy as we were right next to a very posh health spa, and with Luke telling the lady behind the desk our story in dramatic fashion, ten minutes later we were sat in the hottest jacuzzi ive ever been in and spent some time enjoying the sauna and steam room as well. mikey was not to impressed when he got back a few hours ... read more

The truth is officially dead. not, the actual truth of course, that all depends which way you look at it. i mean 'the truth', our campervan. (we didnt name it by the way, it came with that name and refused to change it.) i will explain more later, right now il get back to the last couple days. one day in brisbane was enough for us, lovely city, although damn expensive, but really hectic, and we're in beach bum mode, citys are frightening to us at the moment...... We got back on the road and headed for the signs which read'gold coast'. This is what we've all been looking forward to for a while now, and surfers paradise, our first stop on the gold coast did not dissapoint. the beach is just endless, and the skyscrapers ... read more

So, the last time i posted, i managed to just about write up until our trip to the whitsunday islands.... the trip cost around $150 dollars for the day, but i can tell you now, it was some of the best money we've ever spent. the night before we went out, quite stupidly as we were getting picked up at 7, and didnt get in till half 3. Still, it didnt stop us having an amazing time. Whitehaven beach has the purest sand in the world, and the way the beach goes out in to the sea is literally a sight you'll never see again. While mike and i went into the sae we noticed three baby sharks, enought to scare you, but me and mike had a bit of fun chasing them around for ... read more

Ok, first things first. Yes, i am alive (only just mind you). No, i have not forgotten about this blog, and i apologise now for spelling mistakes. I have less than an hour to write this and then internet is so expensive! So the last time i blogged, we were leaving asia Australia bound! We landed in Cairns to some serious heat and with a couple guys we met in pretty much every country in asia we set off for our hostel. Gilligans was the name and if you've ever been to cairns you'll no its pretty crazy there! The nighclub downstairs made for a pretty messy first night and the live band was ace! (Also the pool was pretty lush, didnt seem to get pools in asia... or hot showers) Cairns is a lovely city, ... read more

Yes, i know i said my last blog would be the last from Asia, but our flight to OZ isn't until 8.30 tonight, and i thought i would use this time to write down a few highlights from our first month of traveling. These are no where near the only good things we've done, but more like some stand at moments from each place we've been to; Tuk-Tuk rides and Kao San road in Bangkok, Elephant trekking in Krabi Viewpoint climbing, the vibe and the views in Railay Hiring mopeds in Ko lanta. Cliff jumping, Maya bay and beach parties in Ko phi-phi Beach bumming in Ko samui with bungalows literally on the beach. Of course, the full moon party in Ko phangan Petronus towers, Batu caves and the Chinatown market in Kuala Lumpur Mustafa center ... read more

Right, been a few days since I've last posted, in fact im not even in the same country, Singapore to be precise, but I'll head back a few days and fill you in on whats happened! Luke and i didn't get to see much of Kula Lumpur on our first day, its pretty difficult when you dont get out of bed until 3pm ( damn hotel rooms without windows, its so confusing ), but in our defense we didn't go to bed until 7am! Anyway, we both felt like we couldn't go anywhere until mike arrived, if you haven't read other posts we left mike over a week ago on Ko samui as we headed to Ko phangan and he headed to ko Tao. With our brilliant minds, not, and the magic of facebook chat we ... read more

So, the last time i posted it was the full moon party, and its safe to say the rest of our time on the island consisted of not doing very much at all. we basically just watched movies and played cards with the Swedish girls, (who definitely make up their own rules) definitely our quietest time in Thailand, but i can think of worst things than chilling on a tropical island! our next decision was where to go next. we know we have to fly to Australia on the 1st December from Singapore so that's the direction we needed to head... But mike was still on KO Tao diving and Annika, Helena and Linda were heading there as well. the idea of surprising mike and keeping up our travel with the swedes seemed like a good ... read more

OK, well i really should start noting down things iv'e done again before i decide to post a blog, because right now im sat in front of a computer paying 2 bht a min while i'm trying to remember things to write about! I'l skip the second day here on phangan, we didn't do much, although when we were on phi-phi we met another group of Swedish girls who, when they left, posted a note through mine and Luke's door which had their names for facebook, and a message saying 'meet us on ko phangan'. while we were on samui, Linda, one of the swedes, sent me a message saying where they were staying and what room number, so Luke and i went and found them and had a quiet evening playing cards.we did plan to ... read more

Ok well im sorry its taken a few days for me to get anything new posted, i do apologize i just like to gather a few days worth of stories!! right, back to samui.... our last, and only full day there was a pretty quiet affair, but don't get me wrong, it was paradise! the weather was good and the beach was two steps outside our bungalow, exactly what we were after before we headed to phagnan.. for some reason, our bungalow seemed to become a zoo that night, a stray dog decided to make our porch its bed for the night ( and we weren't going to argue with it..) a spider which im pretty sure could have eaten us was holed up in the bathroom, and a fist sized cockroach was looking for a ... read more
