Geo: 51.8667, -2.24867Awake or at least arise from another near sleepless night just before 05:00. Guest house doesn't start serving breakfast until 06:00 so I go out to the nearest 7/11 for a coffee to help clear my head.I go down for breakfast at 06:00 but by 06:05 there is still no life in the kitchen. I ask about breakfast and am told about another 20mins as the kitchen staff have only just turned up for work. I need to be in a taxi by 07:00 so don't wait around but head out into the dark and eat fried eggs and toast at a street stall on my own.Back to room to finish off packing then check-out just before 07:00 and walk up to the main road for a taxi. Run to the airport is quite ... read more

Four days and counting.... I would like to say that I am all ready to go, but I'm not. I'm getting there though. I just finished quilting a beautiful quilt...last one before my travels. I'll post a picture of it. I'm pretty proud of how far I have come in the last year. I would like to thank everyone who is going to follow me on the trip of a life-time that I have dreamed of since I was a little girl. So here goes..... Talk to you again soon!... read more

Geo: 51.8667, -2.24867Catch the 09:50 coach to Heathrow arriving pretty well on time at 12:25. We are due for a 25 mins wait for our connection to Terminal 5 but luckily another coach is heading that way immediately and will take us. By 12:45 we are there. We take the lift up to the check-in floor and discover there are no queues so before 13:00 we have got rid of our big cases and have our boarding cards at the ready. We sit and eat lunch then make our way through the security checks and into the main departure lounge. We have to wait a while to see which of the Terminal 5 buildings our flight actually leaves from and see if we need to take the train to another place or not. We take a seat overlooking ... read more

Geo: 51.8667, -2.24867Up with the alarm at 5:30 and down to breakfast for their opening at 6:00.I check-out and leave the guest house just before 7:00 and take a taxi from the main road at the end of our Soi. The traffic seems worse than ever this morning as he drives all over the place trying to avoid queues with little success. We are inching along and time is passing all too quickly and I fear for a late arrival at the airport. We finally break through onto the expressway and are on the way to Suvarnabhumi.I check-in just after 9:00 and go straight through immigration and security checks and make my way to Gate G4 where the plane is waiting. Had brought a book to pass the time but it is not needed. Phone Jai ... read more

Geo: 51.8667, -2.2486724 hours prior to flight departure I am supposed to be able to complete an on-line check in for our flights. So Adam, Myles, Scott and I burned (or should I say crawled!) out of London at 4pm on Friday and still managed to hit some fierce traffic. It was our last mini-break before Adam and Myles head back to Australia, Melbourne. The journey took near on 4hrs to get to our accomodation. Which was the quaint Three Choirs Vineyard in Gloucestershire. We were staying in the Lodges that were nestled amongst the vines near a small pond; very picturesque. The following morning, after a hearty breakfast overlooking the vineyard, we headed into Hereford to visit the little town of Ledbury. It had cute little streets with tudor style houses. Next stop was Great Malvern to tackle the Malvern Hills. Just as we started the accent the fog cleared and we had beautiful blue skys to gaze ... read more

Sunday 2nd September We set off about 8.00 p.m. from the Hotel in London and arrived in Gloucester about 10.30 later that evening. Tired and went to bed. Monday 3rd September We went into Gloucester to visit the Cathedral. We saw the tombs of the founder of the church and of King Edward 11, the great East Window and the Whispering Gallery. There was an exhibition explaining the details of the stained glass in this window, which is one of the oldest in Europe. It includes the oldest record of a golfer. We tried out the whispering gallery and it works! We then walked in the city and saw an old set of chiming bells above and old Bakers jewellery shop and then went into a modern Mall and saw another clock with moving models representing ... read more

Geo: 51.8667, -2.24867Up very early this morning and after breakfast, a final check of tickets etc and goodbyes sister Pam drives us the two hundred yards to the bus stop. Our coach arrives a little late due to heavy traffic - lets hope thats not an omen - and by 08:05 we are on our way. An uneventful journey gets us to London Hathrow at just after 11:00. Head straight to check-in and our bags weighed in at 46kg. Was a little worried we were going to be overweight so was well pleased. It turned out that Egypt Air allow each passenger two check-in bags each weighing 23kg so a grand total of 46kg per person. I have never some across such a large allowance !! We sit outside the terminal building and eat lunch before ... read more

Having known that there wouldn’t be very much transport available in the Cotswolds on Sunday, we had decided to visit Gloucester on 19 June. We caught the No.94 bus from Churchdown, a few minutes walk from Strayleaves on Gloucester Road. After arriving at the bus terminal, we headed to the Historic Docks. The scene of the canals and brick warehouses reminded my parents of visiting Otaru in Hokkaido last year. As well as the remains of the Victorian warehouses which have been converted to the restaurants, museums, and shops, there were several pieces of equipment and vehicles, e.g. tractors, carts, and the remains of the rail where the trolley was steered in the past. The historic docks also contained the church, which was dedicated to the mariners. National Waterway Museum After walking through the Docks, we ... read more
