Good eve all. First thing is first, I have to address a few fans, haha hardly. Mélanie, thank you for all your kind words, I am so glad you are reading this! But you asked about Communications, I'm not sure how universities work in Quebec, but since I am still technically attending an American university I do everything through them. If you wanted to come to the UK, you would have to see what sort of study abroad programs your university offers, they might do an exchange program with some Unis in the UK. Second of all, the American Uni system is a bit more confusing than the straight forward European-style ones. We basically attend school for 4 or more years, not on a set course, but we have to complete a certain amount of credits. ... read more

The date was the 27th January. It was a Tuesday. The train had just delivered me at Prestatyn, North Wales, and life had suddenly slowed down a lot. Work was over, which was a big shock. Three hours before the end of my last day, i had an epiphany. I realised that, without knowing it, the last 6 months of working every hour i was sent had resulted in my gaining more than just funds. Three hours before the end of my shift, I realised that i'd actually made a lot of friends in Manchester. In fact, I spent most of my days 'working' with a lot of friends. In fact, I realised, I was sad to be leaving. But, as they say, all good things come to an end. 6 months in Manchester was fun, ... read more

Before I came home Sunday night, Adam came over to Chris house and cooked us a nice dinner. First we went all over town searching for an open market, but it was Sunday night so even the 24 hour stores were closed. Yeah, go figure. We finally ended up and blockbuster. Spent most of the time oogling N64 games and recieving blank yet unbelieveing stares for all the films I hadn't seen. I played a demo DS and apparently I have an "eye age" of 30? ....Yeah, that's what I said too. The other Chris beat all of us at the Tekken-like arcade game but to be fair, he did have the advantage of the better joy stick. We then stopped at a Tesco on the way home to grab some food for Adam's culinary extravaganza. ... read more

The beginning of the weekend was pretty uneventful. After the fire alarms this lull was almost welcomed. On Thursday night I tried to call Spencer but then I remembered he was probably at rehearsal. So I came up with this brilliant plan to call there. I was amazed I still remembered Edgewood's phone number. Maybe because I had it on a pen so I stared at it all through economics. I'm glad I called because I got to talk to almost everyone in one shot. I really miss rinky dinky Merritt Island, and I am very jealous of Casey and his ability to pop back every now and then. Thursday night we were supposed to go out but we ended up just all going to hang out in one of the flat's downstairs. Those were some ... read more

After 57 hours in and around planes, and only a couple of wee cat naps to sustain us, you could understand us questioning our state of wakefulness when we were greeted at Heathrow by a pink wigged crowd. Not many of the passing businessmen appeared to find it a common experience, but being the polite British gentlemen that they were, pretended it wasn’t happening. What a welcome - and what a challenge for when the families next come out to visit us! The bbq planned for mine and Sheila’s birthdays that evening was in stasis, dependent not on the weather as I presumed, but on our ability to cope with relatives and a party. Venting about the ticket mix-up was cathartic for a while, but it soon grew old, and we were determined it would go ... read more

Buckingham Palace, the home of the monarch since the reign of Queen Victoria. I know that from just skimming through my entries it may look as though I have already been there several times, when in truth I have only passed it several times. Since it is a centre point in the city. But on Thursday one of my classes was canceled in the middle of the afternoon so I had a five hour gap with nothing to do. Everyone I talked to had another class in that time frame so I just ended up walking to Buckingham by myself. It was really refreshing and I am very proud of the fact that I know how to get there. I got a student ticket for about £14 which is expensive I know, but it is a ... read more

What a weekend! Has to be up there as one of the best things I have done so far on our trip and by far one of the best festivals I have EVER been to! Where to start... well I headed off early Friday morning got the train to Reading and met up with Rick who was coming in from further up North, just outside London. Reading was packed already with people of all ages unloading from the train with back packs and tents for what was sure to be one of the best weekends of the year. The weather wasn't looking too promising when I left London, overcast and a slight sprinkle in the air...but I guess that's just London at any time of the year. Much of the same out in Reading however as ... read more

As a big tv crime lover, the serie "Midsomer Murders" (in Denmark and other countries called "Barnaby") is one of my favourite programs on tv. One of the benefits with living in Britain is you get all the premieres of good British programs and also when it comes to life and particular death in County Midsomer. One of the latest Midsomer Murders had Englefield House as one of its locations. Englefield House is located only a few kilometres from Reading in a very beautiful park and is definetely worth a visit - also for people who is not a particular big fan of British crime movies.... read more

Well here it is, our first blog entry. Life in the office is about to cease, replaced by life on the road. And we are starting to panic! We have been planning this trip for what seems like years (we first decided to go when living together in 2004), and the countdown started officially at around 90 days. Suddenly we are down to 22 and it is finally starting to sink in... we are going round the world for a whole year! ... read more
