Hi all, Well we're already a week into our project and this is the first opportunity to get in contact with anyone. Its going so well. Last week we arrived in Nadi after a very very long time on the plane and were met by the local guiding commissioner and also their international co-ordinator which presented us with these amazing flower garlends. We spent some time getting over jet lag and then travelled to a place called pacific harbour. From then on we have been to five schools and have just finished a leaders weekend training. The school visits have been a lot of fun and the kids have been great. The leaders training was more challenging by just as rewarding. Although Fijian do like their packed programmes and early mornings so our saturday trainings started ... read more

Second Fijian entry, A lot has happen since I last wrote in this blog. Last week we visited five different schools around the capital of Suva. It was good fun and although not nearly as hard work as the camp still very tiring. We got to see a great range of schools from very small rural areas to large primary schools with much better facilities. On Thursday we went to the airport to catch a plane to the southern most island of Kadavu. This island was amazing. Boat is used as the main transport as there are few roads. The water is clear turquoise in colour and the amount of deserted white sand beaches surronded by palm trees was incredable. (Jealous yet?!) We Arrived and went straight to the school which was to host our second ... read more

Hello Well this is a slightly odd update, as having returned to England for a couple of months, I am now in Fiji!!!! I'm doing a GirlGuiding project and working really hard. We flew last weekend as a group of four from Heathrow. It took 11 hours to get to LA Airport and and we went striaght onto our next flight which took 10 1/2 hours to get tO Nadi, Fiji. We are a really good team and am getting on really well. We went to a fundraising event for the Fijian GirlGuides at the British High commissioner's house which was good fun and we got to meet all the many people involved in the Guiding association and we helped out and gave an presentation on our project. Last weekend was our fist Guide Camp. When ... read more

May 10th 2008

As you can probably tell from the title I have come to the end of my trip and this is my final entry. For the past two weeks I have been on a tour travelling round Peru and I haven't had any time to write a blog about it, and alot has happened. I caught a flight to Lima which went smoothly and I stayed in Lima for a couple of day before the tour began. The group had 14 females and only one male, but he didn't seem to mind!! Again it was a really good group and was very mixed but we all got on really well. First on our agenda was to fly to Poono which is a city on the edge of Lake Titicaka, the largest lake above 2000m. Poono was around ... read more

April 21st 2008

Unfortunately I have now left the Glapagos and am in, not so sunny, Quito. I had a fantastic time in the islands and just wish I could have stayed longer. I have done soooooooooooo much since I last wrote a blog and I am sure I will forget to write many things. I ended up doing three days diving as I was very egar to see some hammer head sharks. I had an excellent couple of days and saw many white tipped reef sharks, turtles, rays and loads of tropical fish, but no hammerheads!! At the end of the dive day I was very tired and sat and watched volleyball competitions in the town centre as Volley is Ecuadors favourite sport and is played a lot and taken very seriously. On the day my tour started ... read more

April 10th 2008

Well, yesterday I had booked myself onto a diveboat and went for a days diving. I knew I was going to enjoy it as I had only been diving in England when the waters been like 7 degrees and the visability pretty terrible. We set of as a group of 10 on a boat ride which took about 2hours to a different Island. Unfortunately we weren't very lucky with the weather at it was either cloudy or raining the whole day, well untill we got back to where we are staying, then it was sunny, my typical luck!!!! Anyway, We did two dives in the day and also had a chance for some snorkelling in between. The guide took some pictures which was good as for some reason my camera wasn't working. The first dive we ... read more

I made it to the Galapagos Islands athlough not without a couple of hic-ups!!! Well basically I was going to be given all my flight info by a guy who works for the company that I'm taking a tour with next week. We phoned my hotel as planned but I wasn't there yet so he left his number so I could phone him back. Well I tried sooooooooo many times to phone him back that evening but it just wouldn't work and I still don't know why. I tried to phone the companies main office but that wouldn't work either. Anyway, Long story cut short, I got up early in the morning and went to brekfast at the earliest time possible thinking I could then try and phone him againafterwards. As I was eating though I ... read more

April 1st 2008

I had a pretty cool weekend! I caught a bus after school on Friday and headed to a place called Baños. Its a lot more touristy than Tena is and took about four hours to get there. Its surronded by mountains and a volcano and is very pretty. Baños means baths in spanish and its famous for their natural baths and there are about three altogether in the town. After not having a hot shower for a month, I obviously went straight for the hot pool!! Its amazing how hot the water gets just through the earths/volcanos heat. When I arrived in Baños I met an girl from London and a guy from Columbia and the next day we all when on a bus tour in a special bus called a Chiva. There are loads of ... read more
