Saturday was our one-week day, so it was time to do laundry. Unfortunately, we have some very strong perfume smelling underwear, thanks to Allan! Wilma showed me how to work the washing machine in our cottage, and I dutifully followed her instructions, then proceeded to read my book while Allan watched TV. He decided that the machine was taking too long, even though I had told him the new machines take longer. He finally got too impatient and started to rotate the dial. Then it stopped. I finally went to it, and soon dirty, soapy water emptied out. At that point there was nothing to do but let it spin, skipping the rinse cycle. My sister Laurie lived in Gothenburg when she was a young adult and was eager for me to meet her friends, experience the places she loved and where she lived. According to my sister Gothenburg was a small fishing town on the sea (but she has spent most of her time in NYC and so small is relative.) This country girl was surprised to end up in quite a large city, in fact I later learned that Gothenburg is the second largest city in Sweden and the largest seaport in the Nordic countries. ... read more

Hello from Lilla Edet! We got up early and Ulf took us to train station in Stockholm through local subways to get the fast intercity train to Gothenburg Sweden. It was good to just watch the countryside, sleep, and relax for 3.5 hours before meeting more family and having more adventures. It was a very smooth ride and we got to experience walking between the train cars. It's not like it used to be when you had to walk outside but still a little scary and loud. We were met by Maria, her 11 year old son William and Ken and Lorretta. We then did a little shopping before being taken to Maria and Robert's house in Lilla Edet about an hour north of Gothenburg.
