We slept in, went down for breakfast and showered. Then we stopped by the business center to print our boarding passes for tomorrow departure flights. The hotel indicated that it is a 30 minute taxi ride to the airport and it is a mandated fixed price of 30 Euros. A leisure start to this our final day. I am wearing down and getting stiff and sore so we decided easy does it today. We finally wandered out and decided to go to the Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza. It is close within walking as just a few blocks. Everything here when asked how far is 5-10 minutes when really it is much longer! This museum is about 15 minutes from our hotel. We both got in with senior pricing so 14 euros total. Age has its benefits, we spent ... read more

I feel like today has spanned the course of 2 days. It's amazing how much easier handling jet lag is this time around. I can still stay up too late (138am) & sleep too late but it was a great day! Started out on a 2 hour walking tour. Love them because it helps me get my bearings and understand the important places to go in a short period of time. After all, we aren't here long. It turned into a 9 hour walking, eating & boating tour. Katie & I walked around for the rest of the day w/ new friends from the walking tour. We walked across the city to the park & rented boats! Afterward we walked clear across to the other end of the city only to find that they stopped admitting ... read more

Today is a historic and important day for Spain. King Juan Carlos has ruled for 39 years and abdicated the power to his son Prince Felipe. We are so lucky that the ceremony for Felipe to take the oath and become King took place just across the street. The police presence was absolutely unbelievable as they were posted everywhere on the street, on building rooftops, flying around in helicopters and on bicycles, motorcycles and cars. We quickly headed up to the hotel rooftop terrace on 6th floor and found a great corner where we could watch the pageantry and preparation. We watched several groups of military, the band, some in dark uniforms, some white, some in green then the color guard. We also saw the 1920's style Rolls Royce convertible that King Felipe and Queen Letizia ... read more

I have to try hard to remember where I left off. Jet-lag overdrive. We sat on the Tarmac to leave for London for ~2.5 hrs. Picked up Red Velvet Cupcake Murder in Buffalo and I've been blowing thru it w/all the time on the planes. Tried to watch the Lego movie. I'm sorry but the funny just wasn't funny enough for me. I think I was done by Tacko Tues. Or h/e they spelled it. Have to sleep cause that time goes by in a flash. Food wasn't so bad. I think I inhaled dinner by the time we finally got going. Landed in London a couple hours late & we still had to get from Heathrow to Stansted. Took the Underground & took an above ground detour to Nottingham Palace, which I had not seen ... read more

Another really early morning as we had train tickets to Madrid that departed beautiful San Sebastián at 7:30am. Last night we showered, packed and laid out our clothes for today to quicken our departure to the train station. The hotel called a cab for us and it arrived quickly. Interestingly, he shoved all 4 of our luggage into the front passenger seat then proceeded to give the big ones a kick to close the car door. Traveling is an adventure and you see it all. The train station was pretty close and only cost 9 euros. We found our check in, tickets were in order and we headed to platform 2 and waited the arrival of the 1st leg of our train to Zaragoza. While standing we began chatting with a very nice lady on holiday, ... read more

My brother-in-law Raphael came to Antonio's house around 4:30am to take us to the airport in Jerez. I'd noticed from our Orbitz flight schedule that they still hadn't updated our homeward flights and that none of them actually matched in flight numbers or times, so we were a bit concerned. When we reached the airport, they had no problems issuing tickets for all but the final leg from Charlotte to Pensacola, so we started feeling a bit less worried. Jerez airport was no problem navigating since it was so small, and we caught our flight to Madrid on time with no problems. Unlike Jerez airport, Madrid turned out to be the biggest nightmare we've ever had in all the airports we've ever been through. Our plane arrived at Terminal 4, which from my previous experience was ... read more

On vient d’arrêter à Zaragoza !
