This entry is long overdue (writing it as of 02/04/07). The trip to Ireland was wonderful. My mom, while planning the whole trip (England, Bahrain, Ireland), found out that the cost to stay over a day in Dublin didn't add any to the price of the airline ticket. So, it was a great opportunity for us to drop in and visit cousin Thea and for mom to see Dublin. We arrived on an overcast day, but the approach of the plane was close enough to the ground to see the shoreline, some Irish countryside, and parts of Dublin. After arriving at the airport we stopped by the ATM to get some Euros and then took the 476 double-decker bus to St. Stephen's Green (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Stephen's_Green). We sat on the top deck one row from the front, which ... read more

Well what a start to the year....After 15 long years of having the worst New Years Eve experiences in history, Ireland showed me a cracker. God I love this country. Mimi and myself decided to see in the Australian Time Zone New year with a night at the Arlington. Went out with some girls on tour and some of our favourite full timers. Rather large evening and was not keen to do it all again for the Irish New Year. We headed over to our local the Celt about 11.30pm and was expecting to see the new year in and go home. This was not to be, a few bulmers later, Betty and the band cranking out some of our favourite traditional tunes, the night seemed to fly by, 2am came along and it was well ... read more

So, it has been another long wait between blogs. I have been incredibly busy here in Glasgow. I just finished a 3000 word paper, and am working on another one at the moment. A lot has happened since my last post, most importantly being the visit of my dad, sister, brother-in-law, and cousin!! My dad and Jamie arrived November 7th with just enough time left in the night to go out and have a few pints and a few whiskies with my friends Jet, and Bernd. It was a great introduction to Scotland for them!!! Bernd enjoys whisky, but it was actually Jets first time to drink it. He said that the Chinese had to show their respect by drinking the same drink as their elder, and drinking as much as they do. Needless to say, ... read more

I spent the entry into 2007 as I meant to go on for later in the year, not in the UK. Geographically not very distant, I had a great time in Dublin with Erika’s family, with many things to see and do: visitdublin.com, or Dublin for Visitors, or Discover Ireland. A bit of local knowledge, and some tourist-traps! We started with a bit of an unashamed tourist tour, starting with Grafton Street (which even I have heard of, although my knowledge of Dublin is pretty limited, and I’d not had time to look up much about it before going!), then round various spots of ‘interest’, via Butlers Chocolate Café (www.butlerschocolates.com), which was DELICIOUS, if a little crowded (but what... read more

Here I am in Dublin. Arrived safely and was met at the airport by Richard. Spent the first day in bed recovering from the flu and eating soup. The second day Richard and I took the bus downtown to meet Morgan, Nico, and Renee who were also visiting for New Years. We had our first Irish pub food for lunch and the men had a pint of Guinness. Later we met up with James and Melissa at their home. James is a graduate of Carleton School of Architecture a few years ahead of us. He and Richard worked together at CIMS and he and his wife Melissa moved to Dublin in the fall. They spent most of the week with us touring Dublin as they hadn't seen many of the sights yet. Over the next few ... read more

Ce sera donc mon dernier article... et pour finir en beauté, j'annonce OFFICIELLEMENT (n'est-ce pas papa??) que j'ai eu mon TOEIC! See you soon xxx ... read more
