VIETNAM ADVENTURE Asia » Vietnam
The adventure begins in Ho Chi Mhin City when we fly in a stupid o’clock, not being able to resist being in a new country we venture off for a little bit of exploration. Some interesting sights in the early hours of the morning on the streets in the heart of Vietnam. Street stalls still bustling, people sleeping on the streets and rats the size of cats scampering around every corner. And our first of many bowls of Poh..... The next day saw us exploring on foot the Ben Tanh Markets, Military Museum and the infamous China Town. Not our best [View Full Entry]

A weekend to remember, a group of us head down to Litchfield National Park to celebrate Bel's birthday. Belinda, Mark, Cathy, Shane, Jen, Mick Stuart and myself arrive at the lovely Litchfield Holiday park with self contained cabins, pool, bar, restaurant all backing onto the National Park. Fridays celebrations start with a few drinks on the balcony then off to dinner, cake cutting, a game of pool, a few shots and copious amounts of rum we were nudged on just after midnight, bed at 3am. A very rough start to the morning, things picked up with eggs Benedict then off to [View Full Entry]

Escaping unscathed. I found myself catching my breath for a few days with ever beautiful Mr SOBL. Who has resorted my faith in all things good!, then south of Perth to Mandurah for a farewell to Miss Tash and Mango. It was a little sad to leave Perth but was comforted at the thought of leaving with more friends than I had arrived. So thank you to Alan, Miss Tash, Mr SOBL, Carime, Santos & Noni for all of my special memories there. Right on the road again.....up the coast to the Pinnacles, some limestone formations in Cervantes. Ready and itching [View Full Entry]

Final days in my little home town in Penola, South Australia were more than marvellous with a week long visit from my beautiful Penny whom I have not seen in 2 years, what a reunion, back to the good old days of home cooked meals (that have improved no end) and plenty of bottles of local wine to taste then consume. Action packed week with a visit to the Blue Lake our 2 favourite wineries, a trip to the coast of Robe, where Pen is already planning her retirement. And the highlight of Macbeth in the caves.... Packed poor Val to [View Full Entry]

Back home on Australian soil, and thrilled at being so. First few days were catching up with family, Kevie was soon to arrive and had a few days down time before embarking on our long awaited road trip. Four States in five days. First trip was to Brisbane to catch up with the famous Paddywagon crew consisting of, Feofa, Flic, Dan, and Armie. Cracking night with many tales of ole.... And a big thank you to Armie and Fe for adding even more shamies to the evening....poor Kevie! Next stop was Sydney to catch up with AnnaBanana and Hailey, quiet afternoon [View Full Entry]

A little sad to think this was the last of my European trips, but it certainly did not disappoint.... Headed off to early Saturday morning with Mimi and Caroline, and flew straight into Brussels where we were supposed to spend the weekend, a quick discussion with the girls and we were straight on a train to Brugge - deciding factor was some pretty pictures on the wall. We arrive to a quaint medieval town that was a buzz with history, culture, architecture, canals and most importantly Belgium chocolate.....we weaved through the streets for hours with every turn of a corner filling [View Full Entry]

What a wonderful way to end an 18 month European adventure...... Christmas Eve bought an abundance of excitement and German Culture. With a lonesome flight from Belfast to Hanover without my trusty travel companion Mimi by my side - we were quickly reunited at Braunschweig train station before heading off to the family home in Wolfenbuttel, with Mimi's mum Annette, Dad Hartmut, Uncle Klaus, Aunty and Cousin Matthias. A little sin absolution, with a traditional Christmas Eve service in a stunning old church, which was all in German and most interesting. Back home for one of my favourite e [View Full Entry]

Been a long time coming but the pack was once again on my back and off again for another adventure with my ever constant travel companion Mimi and this time in toe, Ange - my breath of fresh air. 4am wake up in Belfast with a 2 hour bus ride to Dublin then off on the plane to Pula, a town located in Istria, Croatia. Arriving at the airport met two lovely Kiwi sisters who adopted me for the afternoon until my girls arrived. Stayed in Pula the night and remembered quickly how much I enjoyed Mimi when she is drunk [View Full Entry]

OK - This is a long one - but worth the read and check out the photos. Off we go for our Italian adventure, Mimi, finbar and myself. Arrive in Pisa at some ungodly hour with no accommodation to be found, as we find over the next week, taking Finbar with us was a wise decision with his accommodation hunting being gold. Good nights sleep and off to Cinque Terre where we spent the next 5 days exploring the 5 villages cut into the cliff faces. Our hostel was amazingly positioned at the very top of one of the villages [View Full Entry]

Ohhhh my goodness what a buzz to be in Ireland to celebrate St Patrick's Day. It has been a huge two weeks of work organising paddy's day tours for about 150 people, so it was great to kick back Saturday arvo and enjoy the festivities. The last week has consisted of camera crews and interviews with a TV program called a Life without Me, its where they send the boss away and see how thing travel while he is gone. It screens on air in may so that should be interesting to say the least...mum is going to be distraught when [View Full Entry]
