"That which does not kill thee, had better run!" -every Dubliner over the age of 50 yrs. We learned of SO much beauty of the history of Dublin from our four-hour city guide, Sean Finnegan. A beautiful man of magical story-telling and joy of heart that measures beyond the shades of green in the countryside. Did you know the generosity of the Guiness family and the big love the Irish people have for them? Did you know that Central Park is modeled after St Stephen's on the Green, in the middle of Dublin? Did you know Dublin/Ireland has a rich economy from the transformation from Farm 2 Keyboard? photos video from our tour guide, Sean. https://photos.app.goo.gl/eTrOfQCbk9gBFwLT2... read more

Well Ireland you didn't disappoint. We had one day less to explore this beautiful Country so crammed lots in while we could. Crowes Hermitage our little Cottage in Ardcath didn't disappoint. Colm was an excellent host and showed us everything when we arrived. There was a fire waiting for us so the cottage was lovely and cosy. Just love those Irish Accents. We settled in quickly and headed off to find some lunch and a parking fine :( Oh well! Husband didn't waste time and got a Guinness. Drogheda was our first taste of Ireland after our Cottage. We didn't explore much because it was wet, windy and cold. So went back and went across the road to our local Pub. Met a couple of nice people. The next day (our first real day of exploring), ... read more

The Big Day is Here. Monday 26th September - Adelaide to Dublin - lets get this show on the road. We woke up to SYSTEM FAILURE SYDNEY AIRPORT - nah we will be fine, we are leaving from Melbourne for the overseas leg. Might be a little delayed but she'll be right. Off we go to the Airport, super early, super organised. Drop the hire car off then over to the terminal to check in. Because Etihad don't have a counter at Adelaide, we go to the VIrgin Service Desk for info. Ask the lady where we check in and get asked, Are you the Cotters? Well yes we are? Straight away we know there is more to come. Lovely Virgin lady proceeds to tell us that due to the Sydney problem our flight has been ... read more

In late September a business meeting took me to Dublin. My colleague who was to fly in from the US arrived later than expected because of a delayed flight, so I took the chance to visit the Book of Kells Exhibition and the Old Library in Trinity College. I was lucky that there was no queue, so I got in right away and could take time to look at everything. The Book of Kells (Irish: Leabhar Cheanannais) is a beautifully and skilfully illustrated book dating from the 8th or 9th century AD. Researchers believe that it was first produced in Scotland, but then taken to Ireland when the Vikings attacked Britain so that it would be safe; it was kept at Kells Abbey where it has its name from, and nowadays it is at Trinity College ... read more

Die ... read more

And so it begins! Roco and Cocos 30th Wedding Anniversary Tour is on the Road. Little behind with the blog as we have not had the opportunity to post due to limited or no internet. So here is a recap to where we are today, starting with our Mackay to Adelaide leg. Our trip from Mackay to Adelaide went smoothly and was uneventful, which was a great way to start the holiday. Once we got to Adelaide it was full steam ahead to the hire car and over to see the family in Athelstone. So nice to see our spesh people when we arrived and meet the gorgeous Freda. What a little cutie. A mix of Mum and Dad, very beautiful and very clever as well. Sim and Trev are the ultimate hosts and had everything ... read more

Day 15. Dublin. This was our last day and whilst not the most scenic was definitely tough. Setting off from Woodenbridge in the sun was quite good, although when we hit the shade the breeze was cool. We climbed steadily to Rathdrum and up through the town eventually arriving in Laragh where we had a drink and snack to keep up our strength for the climb ahead. Above Laragh there is a spectacular waterfall just before you leave the trees and enter the exposed part of the Wicklow Mountain. We met a nice Belgian lady who took our photograph and then teased off again. The wind was in our face and was quite strong and cold. An extra layer was required to keep warm and I wished I had put on my leg warmers. The route ... read more

Hello from my 2nd blog! EEEKKKKK 11 days and we are off on our exciting adventure. So much yet to do at work, at home and for the holiday. Just like organising a wedding, really in the end it doesn't matter, we can put so much organisation in, but as long as we get going and get there, thats all that matters. Over the weekend I just celebrated another birthday, 52 now. Don't feel 52 but that is alas what I am.. Had a lovely weekend celebrating with family and received some excellent presents, a lot we will use on our holidays. Hubby was very organised this year and bought me an apple watch, we love our tech. Our lovely daughters collaborated and organised a polaroid camera and a journal to record our travels, in addition ... read more

It was nearing 3pm in the afternoon (31 August) when we arrived in Dublin airport to be greeted by grandma and grandpa. What a surprise to see them there. It was fun to get hugs and a pinch on my cheek. They say that I'm getting bigger. Even bigger than when they met me in Geneva. Before we reached the baggage collection area we already had an Irish welcome with a mother venturing: "He cleared up" ... referring to the fact that I had been crying in the plane but was then happy and flailing my arms!!! Twenty minutes of talk (rain, children, work / holidays and wordplay) later and with bags collected, we felt as though we had started our discovery of Ireland. Then our mini-bus driver to the hire car pick-up added a few ... read more
