After a very long flight I have finally found myself in Greece. Starting in Athens and only staying there for 1 day was a great choice. Besides the Acropolise there is not much else and they don't take very good care of their city. It has loads of grafitti and is dirty. I can't believe that when I got to the Acropolis my camera decided not to work and I was unable to take any photos. Ah well I will just have to go back! LOL It is another amazing place though. Just like seeing the pyramids in Egypt and of course it came with loads and loads of tourists grrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Following my visit to the Acropolis I headed straight to a camera shop to see if they could fix it. Sure enough I took it ... read more

The cruise has been an eclectic mix of music. The Latin band unfortunately didn’t stick to just Latin music. They sang all the greatest English soft rock hits as well but with a Spanish lisp and accent. As I write this the muzak playing is “I keep holding on”. Which brings me to the stage shows. The first night we saw a guy called Dominik Allen who was a part of Foreigner at one time. He came fresh from his Vegas show, VOCAL SOUP. Long rocker hair, skinny jeans, I’m thinking washed up ex or current drug addict. I was wrong. He was actually quite a talented musician on several instruments. He went for the cheese factor in his lyrics and singing. His catch song, you guessed it: “It’s all about the music”. Somewhere in his ... read more

Days 82-84 After arriving and checking into our apartment we spent the next couple of days doing nothing too much at all. Actually the series of events is much the same for both so I wont bore you and just give you the quick overview of the next couple of days. We went to the various beaches, strolled around and of course did lots of shopping. During the night we did our spot of people watching before heading out for a few drinks on the town. There we met a range of interesting and some quite boring people to say the least. Now whoever says that Greek men aren’t sleazy is completely wrong some of these guys we met wouldn’t take no for an answer and it took all our female dodging talents to get rid ... read more

Got the ferry to Mykonos at 7am. Seemed like chaos when we arrived into the port. People everywhere approaching you to stay in their hotel. Took a little while to get a taxi, as no signs or any semblance of a queuing system in place! Arrived in our confirmed hotel; Staff looked suspect to see us and kinda didn't talk with us when we announced our names. Something was up here! The manager politely informed us that the hotel was not the €19 which I had managed to book it for online, but rather €190 at the luxury end of the market. Negotiation skills to the fore again! Truth be told, I had kinda guessed it was a mistake when I booked it... but I knew my rights or so I thought! i.e. that the price ... read more

Hmmm. What to say about Paros. Certainly nowhere near as impressive as Santorini for it’s astounding location, Paros is a bigger and much flatter island. The port of Parikia is a fairly major port for all of the ferries to the different islands. It has an “old town” located nearby that is the maze of whitewashed buildings with blue doors, some of which has given way to shops and restaurants, but in the main it still looks fairly traditional. I couldn’t see any street names or house numbers, so I wonder what happens when the local postie goes on vacation… Arriving on a Sunday afternoon, the old town was deserted. It appears that the afternoon siesta lasts a long time here, but the area becomes lively again in the evening. I picked some accommodation from Hostelworld ... read more

The Greek Isles / Aegean Sea.... What a fabulous part of the world to visit.... What a SHITHOLE of a dumping ground for peoples crap... Recycling WTF!!! If it floats, you shall see it in the Aegean Sea, If it sinks, you shall still see it in the Aegean Sea, cos the water is soooooo clear!!!! Ironically though, they have a battery recycling bin in the WC at the Mykonos Harbour.... That's cool, but what about all the other trash???? Well here we are on the "party" or is it "parting" island of Mykonos.... An evening meal at the Matthew Tavern overlooking the New Port we are moored in, exchanging stories of our adventure and recapping on wonderful moments - Our skipper claiming this was the best group she has sailed with - A few rounds ... read more
