Hey everyone!
Ok I have the bug and I can't get enough. Heading to London to be closer to the action.
As a little girl I always had a strong desire to travel . So follow my journey as I discover my childhood dream! Top choices are Africa, parts of Europe and South America.

Just want to apologise now to everyone now for the poor spelling and grammatical errors that they may see. I know I am a school teacher but I am not PERFECT!!!
Most of the time I have a time limit and don't get time to edit. Also it takes forever to download the photos so there may not be many from now on.

Engagements usually have a truly romantic story behind them but mine begins about 1 week before christmas, a move to the other side of the world and a closed airport. Last destination was Papua New Guinea but before that we had planned to spend a few days in NY, then spend christmas with Jons family in Canada and then go to PNG. So the plans changed when Heathrow Airport closed down due to snow. We were sitting in the boarding area and about to board when the flight was cancelled. We wasted no time and got our baggage and a cab and headed straight to Jons cousins house to re-book but the bad news was that we could not fly till chrissy day. Making the best of a bad situation we headed to Cambridge and stayed ... read more
As Jon and my time in london wound down there was less and less time to see more of Europe. Although it was my fourth visit I just could not get enough of Rome and find myself seeing something new to love about the city each visit. This time I went with Jenny, Paul, Sargon and Jon. Bruno was the instigator of the trip but he never made it to his flight and couldn't join us. This time I stayed on the other side of Rome near the Villa Borghese Park. This was a quiter part of town which didn't really suit my style of being in the thick of things. It was a short weekend trip with little time to do soooooo much. First stop was the Vatican to take another look at the Sistine ... read more
Touch down Turkey began with 3 days in Istanbul and all I can say is IT WAS HOT! It was such a contrast to go from Scandi where we froze most days to 44 degrees in the shade. We were on our own for the first 2 days and had only 1 thing on our minds...... BEACH! I can't say the Istanbul is renowned for it's beaches but we were told to take the tram line to the end then catch the ferry to the Princess Islands. Little did we know it was about a 1 hour ride which made 2 stops. When we got to the first one we thought it looked great, deck chairs and umbrellas, the works. But the Ferry didn't stop long enough to let us off. When we got to the ... read more
A short blog to inform you about the 3 most boring days at the Alands. The Åland Islands form an archipelago in the Baltic Sea. It is the largest island in an archipelago of near 6,500 others, most just small uninhabited rocks and though an autonomous, self-governed territory of Finland, the Aland Islands, for historical reasons, are way more Swedish then Finnish. They have their own unique culture, Swedish dialects, flag, and stamps, and remain one of the most popular summer vacation destinations for Swedes and Finns, alike. Hence we headed there to get some beach time and soak up the sun..........NOT! It's main town, Marieham is a sleepy place full of geriatric retirees taking a weekend break. We were literally stuck on an Island surrounded by oldies and pouring rain. We took ourselves to the ... read more
Next stop on the Scandi adventure for Belinda and myself was 2 days in Stockholm. The sun was glorious for a change and it was great to be outdoors and not carrying umbrellas. We stayed in a 5 star hotel just to rejuvenate and fill our tummies on awesome breakfast options. So the combination of just the sun and top accomodation alone, gives me good reason to name Stockholm as one of my favourite Scandi destinations on the trip. There is loads to do there but we did waste our first morning chasing a document case that I had left on the overnight train from Oslo! All our paperwork for the entire trip was on it.... it was redeemed but sent back to UK so my organisation totally went out the window. Once we were sorted ... read more
What a train ride............ the Bergan rail! 8 hours of untouched scenic landscape, with the occasional small village here and there and its highest point in Finse where we reached 1,222 above sea level. We left most of our luggage in Oslo because we were going to return there in a few days. Poor Belinda realised at the highest point above sea level that she really didn't pack appropriatley with only a thin cardigan to keep her warm lol, but the train ride went really fast and before we knew it we were in the west of Norway, the second largest city, Bergan. Now one thing that I still fail to learn is that Sundays are a bad day for any traveller. Loads of things in Europe are always shut and public transport is at a ... read more
Had an awesome birthday in May when I headed to Lake Como with Jon and 13 other friends from London. It was only a weekend but it was a perfect amount of time. We stayed in fanatastic hotel in Bellagio, a short walk from the main town. We practically had a whole floor to ourselves and the views from every room looked straight over the lake. I had a miserable birthday the year before so I was determine to make this one great. Not wasting any time we walked down to the town and went straight for lunch in a cobble stoned alley way. Pizza and salad was all we needed and it was perfect. The 3am wake up call to catch the plane had taken it's toll so Jon and I settled straight into the ... read more
Here is the final chapter of my trip through France with mum. It may be very late but it still only feels like yesterday that we were there so hopefully the typing will flow as fast as the pictures downloaded. To be truthful there were small dramas all the way along our journey but this final week really took the cake. I did mention Provence in my earlier blog but more detail is certainly required. So we arrived in the old monestry part of Vaison-La Romaine and needed to take the car halfway up a mountain to get to our accomodation. Mum kinda had a fit as we drove through the very, very narrow cobbled streets. But we found our boutique B and B L'Evêché. Aude & Jean-Loup Verdier have turned part of their stunning home ... read more
3 weeks in Turkey did take Bel and I through a vast amount of it's landscape. Poor Bel was very patient as my sickness continued throughout the entire trip. Traveling with a group of 15 made it extra interesting and extra fun. There were many funny moments and a relaxing cruise through the Antalya was a great way to end the 3weeks. I will never forget the temperatures as high as 44 degrees. Our little bus struggled to keep us cool but my tan was super, thank you very much! THE HEAT! THE HEAT! will never be forgotten! My favourite memory will always be the night we spent with a local family at the end of Cappadocia. The families house was built into the side of a cave. The room was lined with turkish carpets and ... read more
So I had heard lots and lots about Cappadocia before I arrived in Turkey. Loads of people had told me is was stunning and as usual when I arrived with images and opinions about what I had seen I again, did not feel effected in the way others had. The Cappadocia region is a result of the vulcanic eruptions which occurred in Erciyes, Hasandag and Gulludag. The region formed a large tableland from the vulcanic tufas and together with the erosion of the Kizilirmak river and wind over tens of thousands of years there appeared the chimney rocks . The first Christians used the underground cities from Cappadocia has hidden underground cities. They had to live in the underground cities for long durations without being able to go out so they developed these underground cities by ... read more
