Damarcole - David Coleman

I love to travel. Until now, family responsibilities have limited this, but with the kids finishing up college the opportunity for travel is opening up. So far, Linda and I have explored the Western United States, the Ycatan in Mexico, London, Northern Italy and Venice, Croatia, Athens and various Greek Islands.
I teach at a Middle School about 25 miles from the Twin Cities in Minnesota, USA. Linda teaches third grade at a different school. We live in Eden Prairie, Minnesota with an ornery cat and a small dog. Brian and Laura are off to college, but are home in the summer... I am a displaced Southerner, having grown up near Atlanta, Georgia. Things I like to do include bicycling, crosscountry skiing, hiking, pottery, wine making, and travel.

...Just a stop over in Reykjavik on the way from Minneapolis to London. Sorry, no pictures. Flying in I saw chunks of ice all over the sea, and here and there vents of steam coming out of the sea. I was struck with the lack of trees. I'd love to return, hike in the mountains, and take a whale observing cruise... David [View Full Entry]

On Corfu we met a cab driver/tour guide who gave us a tour of the island. Split four ways, the fourty euros wasn't so much for what we got. It was a wonderful tour through mountains and little villag... [more]

Having Fun In Europe
Well, this blog won't let me list more than one country, but this summer Linda and I along with Wendy, Linda's sister, and Marlys, Linda's mother traveled to London, Venice and Northern Italy, Croatia, Athens and various Greek islands. These islands included Mykkonos, Corfu, and on the Peleponese, Katakolon (where we took a train to Olympia, and walked around the ruins of the Olympic village where they still start the Olympic tourch). I enjoyed Italy the most. I was able to practice speaking Italian, and try to get a little more fluent. Greece was more challenging because [View Full Entry]

Linda at the Plaza, San Miguel, Cozumel
To get started I'd like to add a few photos from Linda's and my trip to the Yucatan several years ago. I loved it there. The Myan ruins are some of the most impressive that I've seen anywhere, including Italy and Greece. Chichen Itza is a must see. There'll be guys hanging around that you can pay to be your personal guide. This is worth doing. They'll be your buddy for a few hours, and they are generally knowledgeable about the ruins, and Myan history. I was also impressed with the ruins at Uzmal. I love Mexico. The people are [View Full Entry]
