After breakfast it was all systems go with everyone setting off on different errands, mum was off to have her hair done, dad to find a tie (he forgot to bring one with him!) and the girls to do some shopping. Success was had all round! I stayed in the hotel and ironed everyone's clothes for the wedding. It was a very warm day so we put off getting into our wedding finery as long as possible. At 1420 we were all dressed, the presents wrapped and we headed down to Dani's place to wait for our guide. Headed to the church which was a beautiful white stone building and waited for the bride to arrive. When the wedding began Dani's godfather (padrino Vagner) played his ceremonial trumpet as the wedding party entered, It was lovely. ... read more

We were picked up for breakfast at 0900 and we loaded our luggage in the back of the van and had a buffet with fabulous coffee and hot chocolate's and then back to the airport to pick up the hire car. A long wait at the Hertz office before loading into our very well broken in Ford Transit van. A few stressful kilometres where driver and navigator sorted out a mutually beneficial communication method and we were off. Drove past the Como region which looked lovely, but didn't stop as we will stop there on the way back. Crossed into Switzerland (and paid the 35 euro fee for an annual toll pass) and headed to Germany through the San Bernardino pass. It was a very scenic drive, with waterfalls, castle ruins and majestic mountains. Very nice ... read more

OK. The roller coaster topped Hairspray. Elizabeth just looked up from napping (on the train) and informed me she wanted to go on the roller coaster again. I'll admit, at over a mile long, it was a BLAST!!!Today started off gorgeous, but it has grown increasingly cloudy as the day has progressed. Let' hope the weather cooperates while we are in the Alps. We caught the bus at 7:23 this morning to Oberstaufen where we had time to buy a train ticket to Friedrichshafen and grab a bite to eat. Actually, I bought the tickets and carried our bags up to the platform while Elizabeth went in search of food - let's just say Oberstaufen isn't that big and there was nothing or no one in the trainstation at 7:45am. When we got to Friedrichshafen we ... read more

We decided to go back and ride the Alpsee coaster at night.
Just as fun... would have been more scary if it had been totally dark.

Hello :) Today me and my oncle have flown fron Oslo Rygge with Ryanair to Memmingen Allgaü airport. We went with a Boeing 737-800 and it was really funny ^^ When we got o memmingen we took a train to Friedrichshafen, but we stepped on the wrong train, but everything worked out fine, we went via Ulm instead of some other place haha :) In Friedrichshafen we left our bags on the hotel and the we took a bus to Meersburg and from there the ferry to the island of Mainau. It was a stunning place, so many flowers, so big and really hard to soak it all up haha :) But we should have stayed there for a whole week to be able to see it all! Back in Friedrichshafen we ate and then went ... read more

Grund: technisches Gebrechen. Na super, faengt ja toll an.

All of us woke and had sore hands and couldn't work out why. It took all our brain power to deduce that it was actually from holding onto steins for the past 3 days! Jaimee and Joel got sorted early and headed off to go see a concentration camp. Nic and I would have liked to have gone too but didn't have time as we had to make our way to Friedrichshafen, a small industrial town on the edge of Lake Constance (South West Germany). Once we arrived we had a bit of a trek to find our hostel. We thought it was worth it when we saw the building and were looking forward to relaxing for the next day and a bit. We walked inside and were told at reception that because we hadn't confirmed ... read more

071205 I've come through several countries since I last blogged, Switzerland, Italy and now France. I've currently holed up here in Avignon for now. I've had charging concerns for my PDA, and have worked through a number of possible issues none of which have resolved the issue to my satisfaction and confidence, but I think I know what's going on, so I'm risking the time to compose a blog hoping that I'll be able to recharge this thing afterwards. If I don't succeed, this will be the last blog till I meet up with Sheela in England. I never finished writing about Germany. That was so long ago now that I'm not sure what I'll remember, but I left off reporting on the solar expo. I completed my survey on Friday (2 days instead of 3), ... read more
