Pictures From France Europe » France » Ile de France » Paris By Pilgrim June 1st 2001 TonyI flew in and out of Paris; and honestly I wasn't super impressed with the city. It definately a "must see" in Europe, but that's mostly for the art and monuments. The town left me wanting more. Who knows? Maybe I'll get a chance to give it a second chance sometime.... read more

:)First real adventure out of the country. I was in sixth grade and felt like a princess going to Paris. There is nothing like being on a natural high, roaming the alleyways of paris, buying a crepe on champs d'eleyses. Just like New York City it's the town that never sleeps, it's only rejuvenated when the sun goes down. The Louvre...oh the Louvre...you need a week just to go through everything there, we did the cliff notes version in a day hitting all the necessary stops. The mona lisa, THe Arc Angel, and the pyramid entrance. For the 10 days we were there I lived on bread, chocolate, and water. With all the food that is in this amazing city I chose that to dine on...but being a picky eater isn't easy. ... read more

... read more

Following a day trip to Boulogne in France (my first ever time abroad) my partner and I arranged to visit Paris over a weekend, a few months later. This was a nice, straightforward trip for us, considering we were pretty green with our travels back then. We had an organised company pick us up from our local train station and proceeded to travel to Paris via the ferry. Our trip incorporated a bit of time in Disneyland Paris, which I thought was a laugh but I have always enjoyed a good scare-your-pants-off rollercoaster as well as the live buffalo show - but even back then, horrendously overpriced, I think it must have been around 350FF for a beer (approximately £3.50!) But then as it is effectively a resort I suppose it's no surprise.... After having a ... read more

After our five days in Prague we stopped off in Paris for a few days. The weather turned a bit cold and it wasn't so enjoyable. We visited the Eiffel Tower, Musee D'Orsay, Arc de Triomphe and Notre Dame. The thing I remember most is climbing lots and lots of steps. Overall we weren't terribly impressed by the city.... read more

19 June 2000 Scott - Au Pacific Hotel, Foundary, Paris We arrived in Paris this morning and it sure is hot. Splashed out on a three star hotel room slightly larger then a broom cupboard and within an easy stroll to the Tour Eiffel and Ecole Militaire. We make our obligatory climb of the tower, all the way up; I had to hold Hel up, with her vertigo; She then spent the rest of the day trying to find a decent snow globe of the tower, who hard is it to come up with some decent tack! Still in the end she was rewarded with a suitably gauche gold glitter edifice in a dome. We have a hard time trying to find a decent French café, not at all like Spain where you just wander anywhere ... read more

I’m backlogging some of my previous travels in Europe from when I was in high school and college. They won’t contain much information as it was a while ago, but I would be more than happy to share my experiences with anyone who has a question. Been to Paris a few times. Lived in the suburbs here for a few months when I was young. Obviously you could spend a few weeks just doing the amazing museums; my favorite was the Pompidou Center. Great street performers outside, great cafes in the area; it is worth spending a few hours just chilling outside before spending at least half a day inside. ... read more

We had a nice trip to France in 1999. We spent 5 days in Paris and 2 in Normandy. I always like the countryside better. In Paris we stayed on the Rive Gauche. Walked around a lot and saw quite a variety. In Normandy we saw the cemetery from Saving Private Ryan, at Omaha Beach, and also got out to Mont St. Michel, which was absolutely gorgeous.... read more

Hello my fellow travelers! This is the first of two posts that I'll make about a trip to France and England in October 1997. This post covers my time in France and the road to get there. This was the first time I traveled on my own and after a long and dreary bus ride I arrived in Paris together with both nice and awful people who was to become my classmates for the coming three weeks. Before I arrived here I had an image of Paris as the capital of love, a place of grand and impeccable splendor and a shining beacon of light in the world. I guess I had kind of put it on a pedestal in my naive youth. What I found was quite different from what I had expected. I found ... read more
