Une belle journée ! Nous décidons d'aller à vélo à la rencontre de la côte sauvage... Grande déception, c'est marée basse... par contre les pêcheurs sont heureux car ils ramassent des coquillages à la pelle... Comme ils ne m'aiment pas, ce ne sera pas pour moi ! Dès que la marée montera, ce seront les éperlans qu'ils aiment pêcher... Là il y en a des tonnes, on vous les offre même au camping. Ignorant comment cela se prépare je préfère refuser et en plus, cela a l'air aussi difficile a décortiquer que les minis crevetttes que l'on trouve ici... Pour ne pas rester sur notre faim nous prenons Pollux dans l'après midi et faisons le tour de la presqu'île... Guérande a pour nom breton Gwen-Rann, « Pays Blanc », en référence aux marais salants qu’elle domine. Elle se trouve donc sur une presqu’île, et sa fonction portuaire justifie sa protection par de robustes remparts pour défendre le carrefour des axes La Roche-Bernard / Le Pouliguen et la Turballe / Saint Lyphard. Elle est labellisée « ville d’art et d’histoire. On la connait surtout pour son sel, et le salidou, un caramel au beurre salé de Guérande . Nous sommes venus ce dimanche nous promener à Guérande en prenant le bus au camping… Bien pratique bien que nous pensions que trouver une place de parking serait impossible… Et pourtant, les français souffre vraiment de la crise car on ne peut pas dire qu’il y a foule… heureusement, la saison n’est pas finie, espérons que cela puisse ... read more

Here we are....for a traditional meal with Christophe! We met in Tokyo bus station at 10pm in the middle of February in 1996...and we have been friends for the last 20 years! We tend to see each others, mainly in France over the last ten years...for the same exact meal....mussels at Leon de Bruxelles. It may be a chain restaurant, but the mussels are always nice! Normally, we meet on each of my visits to Paris, but this time Christophe is staying at his parents...so we are meeting on our way to St Malo...in Nantes. Fun, to note, Christophe is a native from St Malo! This would be the only day without gorgeous weather over the last few weeks. Well, this is ok, we are in Brittany. Ah!hot water came through the tap this morning so the drama last night of thinking we might be here for 3 days without a hot shower is over. And the day is another cracker with a stronger sun than we have seen since we have been in France. Perhaps it is the more rural area we are located in with less pollution or is it just less hazy in Brittany? Who knows but the BBA V3 is continued to be blessed with sunny, dry days. The dawn chorus of happy birds in the trees and fields is a lovely background as we prepared breakfast and put a load of washing on. One needs to make use of a proper washing machine when one can! Megalithiques de Bretagne 13thOct. The Carnac Alignments. In some otherwise ordinary looking paddocks near the town of Carnac in Brittany there are these lines of big rocks. The story is that these rock sited predate Stonehenge. While Stonehenge might be bigger and newer. the Carnac rocks are much more numerous. There are about 3000 of these things standing in columns and rows across a slightly undulating paddock. The French call these things Alignments. Well they are aligned in rows. So what better name could you give them. Looking around a number of questions come to mind. Why? Like these sorts of Neolithic era sites around the world on one really knows why rocks are assembled like this. Or why “they” did not do it some other way or why “they” bothered to build them. How?
