So, what have we been up to? Well the weather has been very up & down, mainly down! It has been mainly chilly, raining & the odd ray of sunshine; however we've been out & about on the bikes quite a bit. We went into Fouesnant one day for shopping. Another day we cycled all the way across the coastal path to the other side of the peninsular where there were virtually deserted beaches. On Friday we took the little multi coloured ferry to Concarneau for the day & had a lovely day out. It hasn't changed an awful lot since we used to take the children 25ish years ago; we walked around the morning market stalls & bought some lovely dried 'sausage' to bring home & after that we found a lovely restaurant where we ... read more

Is it French or is it not French? They has their own culture, flag, costume and language. although it wasn't daily spoken but still you can learn it in school. Their enthusiastic in preserve and practice their custom, really enjoy in participate, not by forced like those in China! Brittany is a beautiful place, an unique country, one could drive on the highway without paying any toll-fee. They have ancient history but feel so young, many saints and chapels but not religious. There always an impressive blue sky and friendly folks, even they are not classified as a wine region in France but they still produce lovely cider and whisky, and many different brand of beer. First stop, L'Eclerc which was open now of course. Tyre pressures checked, fill up with fuel & off on what was quite a long journey but pleasant enough. We thought that we would see lots of GB plated cars as we got closer to the coast but we only saw 5. Brittany used to be full of Brits when we used to take the children when they were young – it's now full of ..French. Bet you thought I was going to say Dutch – didn't see one. We have now travelled 6,995 miles or c.11,658km for those running metric... We arrived at the site which is pleasant enough but mainly statics – nice ones though & not a shanty town at all. We've booked in here for 13 nights so intend to do a fair ... read more

Enroute to Shropshire, a visit to Manoir de L'Ormelais to see Lucy, Olivier, Luke and Eliza. Rainy and cool weather greeted me which is refreshing and a lovely contrast after Spain. Channel Tunnel problems in Calais with rioting and storming of the tunnel by economic migrants wanting to enter the UK, so I'm taking a Brittany ferry with the car from Saint Malo, which is nearby, and a far better option to the five hour drive to Calais, followed by much uncertainty as to whether i'll actually be back on British soil any time soon. Preparation for the next adventure follows..... Watch thus space!... read more

Without a grand historic cathedral, not much half-timbered houses like the others better known places in Brittany, Paimpol didn't attract mass number of tourist, still... the small town is tidy and easy to explore, beside the port area, the main sight is around the Quarter Latin the Place du Martray, every Tuesday morning when the weekly market run in full force and it would bring back live in this quiet town. Right in the center of the old town stood the old bell tower La Vieille Tour, that could date back to year 1550. Walk along the port further up north a little you will find the Tour de Kerroc'h on the mound overlooking the cove of Paimpol. And 14km west from Paimpol in Ploezal is a beautiful castle, 15th century La Roche Jagu by the ... read more
