The most northerly of the chilly Baltics, member of Nato since April 2004 and the European Union since May 2004 Estonia is making great strides with rediscovering their culture and revelling in their newly acquired relative wealth.

Estonian society is however tainted with the aftermath of Soviet occupation with ethnic tension and the ex Soviet style womens liberation making Estonias women reluctant to pursue more rights.

Being sparsly populated, Estonia has wide expanses of forest and lakes.

Visit Estonia and stay warm in one of medieval Tallinns candlelit cellars with the delicious Estonian speciality hot chocolate and truffles or take an Estonian style weekend get away to the Islands of Saaremaa and Hiiumaa on any day of the week.

And here it comes, the first weekend out of the city. Well, i went out with AIESEC for a transition party, EB to EB. The location was 45KM out of the city in an area with "hills" and all that the nature can offer, lakes, woods, green grass, beautiful sky, bbq, sauna and great people :). I know that this entry is much too late, however here it is. Ever since I moved from my last host families’ house (which is about two months ago now), I have been so busy. More than I can believe, still, has happened. Here are a few pictures of my new host families’ house. It is a cabin and is real wood. Mexican food night was an adventure. It was held in a dorm that is on the school grounds so everyone that came had an easy place to get to. Then my friend Pille-Riin and I started with making rice krispy treats (not Mexican food I know, yet it was technically dessert). When we had that set up, then we started making burritos, and lastly nachos with meat. I found (no idea how yet I managed) some cheddar cheese in the stores, tortillas (which the Estonians pronounce like tortillas instead of the double L sounds), tortilla chips, beans, and some minced meat. Me and my cool bike

Today was a glorious day. The weather was superb and we went on a bike tour of Tallinn. The bike tour was fantastic. If you are ever in Tallinn I can totally recommending going to the City Bike Hostel and doing their 2 hour tour of Tallinn. The bike that I had was the coolest bike ever. It was an old school bike and I felt exactly like Anne of Green Gables when I was riding it around. We started the ride off in the old town of Tallinn and then headed off towards the suburbs. I met up with the Intrepid tour last night (6pm) in Helsinki for the start of my Baltic adventures. There are 8 of us on the tour as well as our tour guide Andy (a girl from NZ).
