Thursday We left early this morning to catch the bus to Prague. We had to drag our bags around the cobbled streets up a steep hill to a bus station and then caught a very nice bus - posh leather seats and TVs - to Prague. When we got to Prague we were shown to our apartments. I was sharing with four other girls: Andrea, Gill, Grace and Estelle. It was fab as we had our own kitchen and fridge and washing machine! We dumped our bags then met with George who took us on a walk around to get to know the city. Initially it was very confusing. I had no idea where we were going and it seemed like we were walking miles to get everywhere. After a few days though you realise Prague ... read more

Monday 17th August A day at Prague Castle It was a very comfortable night in our bargain accommodation in Beroun. The only adverse feature was a car alarm that went off a couple of times in the night. And given that we had read that car theft is a problem for tourists in the Czech Republic we wondered whether we should go down and check that RR was still there. The receptionist assured us that they had not lost a car from behind the barrier to the road,so we went back to sleep, once the alarm was turned off. Breakfast was described as a “Swedish table” but it actually turned out to be a bit more than that. Not quite the full English but there were eggs and sausages and we ate well to prepare us for a day of sightseeing ... read more

7 August 2009 Another beautiful day in Saxony, clear blue skies, an expected top of 25 degrees Celsius and very calm. A good day for touring again. The Hotel Berlin Berlin has been a great hotel and we have topped up with another great breakfast ahead of today’s trip south to Dresden and then onto Prague for another two day stop. We are travelling through what was the former “East Germany”, the road systems are fantastic here as well but the area is scarcely populated, apparently since the re-unification the former East Germans have moved out because the regions are so poor. This part of Western Europe is the home to a lot of deer, so where we are familiar with seeing ‘kangaroo’ signs these are replaced with ‘deer’ signs and the sport on the bus ... read more

Another city to travel to and appreciate have to say was glad to leave Budapest and well don’t have anything to write about it was a pretty city but that’s as far as it goes. So from there we ventured to Prague and what a difference it is after a long day on the train we just chilled the first night must be getting old we seem to do a lot of that not a lot of late nights a partying going on well compared to other younger travelers anyway. There looked like a few good things to do in Prague and our location was really good situated near the old town square which is well magnificent with all these beautiful old buildings that have been really well looked after. It has this famous clock which ... read more

Thursday 16th July 2009 Up at 6.30am this morning to have bags ready by 7 and breakfast by 7.30am when we leave Kirchdorf, Tirol, Austria and head off to Prague.... It only takes about 30 minutes and we are in Germany, completely different countryside now passes by the windows, Austria was just beautiful with mountains, green valleys and cut houses. In Germany its flat and the houses are diffferent - not that they aren't lovely but it is different to Austria - it's pretty amazing that these different countries have not blended together and lost their identity or culture which why I am so opposed to the Americanisation of this world.. I hope we don't all blend together to become one big BLAH! Otherwise what would be the point of travelling if everywhere we went was ... read more

Today we had a lovely time and we got to meet up with some of Ricky’s friends from the Cruise ships , Renata and Martin with their little boy Phillip ( I hope its spelt right) - thanks for driving all the way it was wicked! We meet at about 10:30 after we managed to get lost 3 times trying to find the most famous bridge in Prague! Yes only us! Hahah anyway eventually we got there and meet up  We then went up to the old castle and walked around the streets on the way up to the castle as well. They are very steep and small cobbled streets, it truly is quiet stunning. The castle was tourist packed but we took some pics for you all and also we took some pics of ... read more

Well we woke up today in the train at 6am to get off the train as it arrived for its stop in Prague at 6h58 and thank goodness for that as the trains stops literally just long enough for you to get off. Prague at 7 in the morning, hard to navigate as you cannot even decipher one word in Czech and really was interesting. Eventually we figured out how to buy Metro tickets and get to the stop we were suppose to then we had to buy tram tickets and figured that out... hahah it was funny not so fun when you caring a backpack. Anyway we made it to the hotel only to find out we could only check in at 3pm in the afternoon!!! Ahhh what? They did some juggling and let us ... read more

What up yall, So i just finished my last week in Prague. It was by far the fastest week we had over here. On Sunday we went out for the best Czech Mex they had over there. You don't realize what amazing Mexican food is until you have not so great Mexican, but la cantina did the job. The rest of the week we hung out with the Aussie girls we met in Krakow and the pool. Thursday we had our last class up at the Czech Eiffel tower which wasn't really class. and Friday we went out to Harley's to write our names on the wall and to have a farewell drink. Today (Saturday) i got to Switzerland and it is so beautiful. I have been sweating my balls off over in europe and finally ... read more

Hi Everyone, In the last two days in Prague I have wandered around lost, taken a free walking tour, and visited the Jewish Museum. Prague and the Czech Republic in general has undergone many changes in the last century. They went from Democracy at the end of WWI to Nazi occupation to Communist rule finally to being their own country again. Capitalism is alive and well in Prague. The are enough shopping centers, souvenir stands, and McDonald's to make any western tourist happy. As long as you stay away from the tourist centers the prices are about the equivalent to US prices. It is nice not to spend $3 dollars on a Diet Coke. The Jewish Museum is actually a group of 7 synagogues. They are probably the only synagogues in the former Nazi territories that ... read more

The Czech for please is easy, prosim, the Czech for thank-you seems to elude me: dekuji. Everytime I say it, the word just sounds more and more wrong each time. That first sound d'ye with more emphasis on the ye is so challenging for me, and the storekeepers must scratch their heads wondering what I am saying. But I keep trying, and once in a while it sounds somewhat like it should. Some other Czech words are a bit like Russian so that helps me a little. But it's a tough language for me. Prague is a photogenic city, with lots of spires, ornate building facades, narrow and winding streets and a church on the hill which dominates the skyline. That church is St Vitus church, inside the Prague Castle. The crowds were huge, but I ... read more
