Today we were going on a rather long train trip... well only 2 and half hours each way but long enough for now. We decided seen as we were so close we should do a day trip to Budapest in Hungary... best decision we ever made as if Saturday was anything to go by Bratislava would have been a nightmare to stay at on a Sunday. So we managed to catch our delayed train (it seems the train in the morning is always delayed, think the driver stops for breakfast or something!) the train was rather fast and very scenic as [View Full Entry]

Eurorail Trip Day 22 Europe » Serbia » North » Subotica
Today Gail woke up at about 8 am and had to rush to the Tesco and get our staxs of food for our 37 hour train to Athens in Greece. After making staxs of sandwiches for our train and getting packed we rushed to the station to find out that yes, today’s train was also delayed....  but only by 20 minutes. So after our long wait we got onto the train, this was going to be a deathly! (Not literally dying but close enough) After travelling all the way through to Serbia and making it to the border after 7 [View Full Entry]

Today we woke up rather late considering the times we had been up in the post couple days... got done and showered etc and left the hostel to go to the station to find out if we could upgrade our train to Athens in a few days... unfortunately for us they only have 2nd class on the train  So after some back on forth we decided to go back to the hostel, chill a little and then go and see the sights that are Bratislava. Thank goodness I can say that the city is not the same everywhere and the [View Full Entry]

Today was going to be long and hectic and so we got up and got checked out as fast as our tired little bodies would allow. We meet Thomas and headed straight for the most popular must see in Vienna, the Stephenplatz... this is Vienna’s cathedral in the middle of the city. It is rather amazing not as big as the one in Germany but rather pretty inside  we got that one done with pretty quick as the tourist of there in the millions and it is kind of hard to spend all day walking around a church when you [View Full Entry]

Well today has been a day that will go down in our minds for eternity! It was the hottest day ever in the record of Austrian history at 37.9 degrees. This is all relevant because we caught a train today from Prague to Vienna for 6 hours... the car we were on had no windows that could open! Now I cannot convey how bad that was... we were wet with sweat from head to toe within about 5 minutes max of being on the train. We eventually moved to a car with windows half way through our journey... thank god for [View Full Entry]

We meet at about 10:30 after we managed to get lost 3 times trying to find the most famous bridge in Prague! Yes only us! Hahah anyway eventually we got there and meet up  We then went up to the old castle and walked around the streets on the way up to the castle [View Full Entry]

Well we woke up today in the train at 6am to get off the train as it arrived for its stop in Prague at 6h58 and thank goodness for that as the trains stops literally just long enough for you to get off. Prague at 7 in the morning, hard to navigate as you cannot even decipher one word in Czech and really was interesting. Eventually we figured out how to buy Metro tickets and get to the stop we were suppose to then we had to buy tram tickets and figured that out... hahah it was funny not so fun [View Full Entry]

Eurorail Trip Day 15 Europe » Poland » Masovia » Warsaw
Today we got to see what made Warsaw Poland amazing... it was a very very nice place and although the town looks a little suspect the touristy part is really nice and pretty. We got up and had a breakfast, I would have to say one of the worst we have had so far... nothing to write home about yet. Anyway after breakfast we did our check out stored our luggage and hit the streets. We went to see the old town in Poland, with its little cobble stone streets, it really is romantic and pretty, we took loads of pictures [View Full Entry]

Today was a Sunday... we knew this because at 9 in the morning when we were out and about everything was still closed.... We decided that we would at least get to see some of Berlin and so we took a boat cruise on the canal, it was actually really nice the sun was out and we had and English translation machine, so inst3ead of imagining what they were saying we could actually know  it was wicked! Definitely think Berlin is on the list for a return holiday one day. We then rushed from our boat cruise bought a souvenir [View Full Entry]

Today was a very very long day, we had to catch a 6 hour train to Berlin and we were horribly hung over and had 2 max 3 hours sleep. Our train journey was a complete disaster, we had noisy kids on the train and topped with trying to sleep and a conductor announcing stops in four languages we didn’t get much sleep. On arrival in Berlin we had pretty strict instructions about how to find our hostel , thank goodness for that cause we were acting like drunken idiots and so found our trains and things rather quickly. The hostel [View Full Entry]
