So I dont have anything very interesting to update other than a few little things: I went on a motor cycle. again. and now I want one. They are amazing. I forgot to mention that the church I attend daily is purple. Like BRIGHT PURPLE. and I love it. Also, I have been eating tomatoes and onions a lot lately. Theyre made constantly and I couldnt be picky. so yeah. I guess I sort of like them. Everyone should download this program called Skype and make a username bc then I can talk to you on the computer for free. My birthday is coming in a few weeks and I get a pinata!!! haha LOVE YOU! We made our way back to Granada and met up with Achim and Veronica- my friends that traveled together with me in Guatemala, El Salvador and now Nicaragua. It was so great to see them again as we were trying to meet up for several days now but kept missing each other by like a day (they even stayed in the knat infested playa Santo Domingo and slept at Hospedaje Gloriana the night after we left- trying to track us down). It was great to be able to see them again so they could finally meet Michelle and hang out for a few more nights. We were both at the end of our journeys as they had to catch a flight in San Jose a few days later to return back to Europe and we had ... read more

Hola amigos y amigas, I am excited that I get to write this now. In the part of Managua that I am residing there is no power available between 5 and 10 pm. that makes it difficult to stay up to date with these entries as class finishes at 5 and immediately the power goes out. One of our classes is held at CIES, a public healthcare school that has generators but closes their computer room at 3 pm, que triste. Anyway I had to trek over here in my first out of doors tropical rianstorm. I guess luckily I was the only one sensible enough, out of my friends, to have a rain jacket. In my first post I wrote about the beach near San Juan del Sur and I think I should expand on ... read more

Hola amigos! Wow, so Im really sorry that I havent written in forever. I have been pretty busy and to be dead honest, when I havent been busy I just havent felt like taking the time to update. Ive been enjoying myself too much!! So whats happened in the past week. Hm. A group from Houston came for like three days last Sat Sun and Mon. I went with them to the dump on Sun but ended up hanging out more with Hermano Pedro and Guillen the entire time then the people who spoke my own language. Weird but I guess Im just becoming Nicaraguan already. haha. On Monday they came to Chacocente and we had a big party to celebrate the well working. We had a bunch of blow up pools and water balloons and ... read more

Hola amigos, muchachos, and loved ones. This is my first entry in this blog from nicaragua. Welcome all to my world here through my words, and hopefully some photos. Please pardon my gramatic and spelling errors when you encounter them. I have been in Managua Nicaragua for a little over a week and a half. Where I have seen and tried to hear extreme amounts of cultural happenings that are still not quite making sense to me. A little about my siuation I am living in a middle working-class barrio called Maximo Jerez. There is no running water after 8 am and beginning this week the electricity will be turned off from 5-10pm, because last week it was from 2-7pm. There is of course an energy crisis that is causing this preplanned disturbance, but there is ... read more

I came to Nicaragua's capital for a few days with the sole intention of picking up my girlfriend Michelle from the airport. We had been apart from each other for several months now and finally we would be reuniting for the last leg of my trip. It has been a difficult couple of months being apart from each other and now we are ready to share the end of the Central American journey together. I arrived to Managua after transferring buses at Chinandega and slamming two large glasses of zapote con leche for 10 cordoba each!! At the bus terminal in Managua no one knew where the area I wanted to stay was- barrio Martha Quezada- so after getting on the wrong bus and asking locals for over an hour (my map of Managua was absolutely ... read more

So I dont know really how much time I have to update. Anyway my classes are going pretty well. Although and good advice or help would be great. Teaching the younger kids English is not easy so any good games or things like that would be awesome. Also if anyone doesnt mind paying the money to send me some Teaching ESL books that would be a god send. My older classes catch on really well though so Im excited about them. Even though David was already my little attachment and uhm maybe kinda my favorite, he has amazed me even more. He is SO smart and picks up English very very quickly. I love it. All the kids are awesome though. I hear Profe! Profe! (profesora is teacher in spanish) or Chelsea! Chelsea! and another one ... read more

So Rachael and I are at a cyber on our way home from work, which by the way I start on weds! AHHHH Wish me luck please. And pray for me. Lots. haha. So Saturday we sat around all day and then we went to this neat youth service at a big church and we sang and danced a little (dancing in church isnt so accepted here) and then hung out. When we got back I was exhausted so I just went right to bed. Sunday I got up and went to church. Their sunday morning church is neat because after Pablo gives his sermon the floor is open for the people to respond. It was neat because this one man went on a huge rant about how when women arent allowed to preach or be ... read more

Hola!

Wow. So after I updated the other day I already have SO MUCH to tell. I have a feeling once I settle in my updates wont be so crazy but everything here is just fascinating to me and I feel the need to tell it. You all know I like talking anyway haha. First off..The animals here. Dogs and cats roam free and are very skinny. Also, any horses Ive seen look realllyyyy starved which kills me but people need to feed themselves so yeah. In my room so far I have seen a lizard on the wall, a mouse roaming around, a very large spider and there is an ant trail on my wall. They wander up and down all day long and its actually very fascinating. I think the lizard was my favorite though. ... read more
