Last day and night here. Very lazy morning spent blogging, watching TV and packing. Very windy and overcast...cold front moving through so good day to chill....ha..get it...cold front...chill!!! Checked weather channel for possible...hopeful...flights delays...none damn it. Did shopping in the craft stalls along the beach. Brunch at Caye Caulker Pizza. Talked with the owner and gave him suggestions for white conch pizza with or without bacon. Also told him that a friend of ours with celiac disease was able to eat his pizza with no side effects. He said he'd tried many combinations of water and different flours before finding right combination for his pizza crust. He has no definite answer to why his crust can be tolerated by those sensitive to gluten. His theory is that the water he has to use is bottled filtered ... read more

We went back to the split today, snorkel gear in hand. The wind had picked up but the underwater visibility was still pretty good. Have to give a nod to Ed Kelley...snorkeling to Bob Marley is awesome. The Lazy Lizard had Marley tunes pumping through their big outdoor speakers and were easily heard underwater. The fish didn't mind...I'm sure they're very used to it. Never had this experience in the Virgin Islands. Looks like the hurricane destroyed a metal and concrete seawall when it created the split. You can see the remains all bent and twisted underwater and it's created an artificial reef for the fish and coral. Caye Caulker is a small island. You can walk around it in a couple of hours, although you're bound to stop for a few chats with strangers or with people you met the day before, or even to stand for 5 minutes in the shade. Other than enjoying the Carribean vibe or water based activities, there isn't a lot to do around there. But slowing down to a pace matching that of the rest of the islanders didn't prove to be difficult. Hard to believe we're done with our first week here. Saturday morning started around the pool...a little earlier than usual for all of us....except for one.....Senor Fred. A few folks went out for breakfast..I stayed and had coffee and pastry served in the hotel bar. The boys went to wake up Fred with a group snuggle on our bed...Dani and I documented the whole bawdy event. The boys had to pack their bags...checkout is 10 AM and be ready for the afternoon water taxi to San Pedro on Ambergris Caye. The cocktails started and Jeremy had his first "Granny panty ripper"...our own concotion....same as a panty ripper but with a floater of dark rum. Good morning. It's a lovely day here again in paradise. Wind calmed down yesterday and today looks to be the same. I have to back track to Wednesday night when Fred and I went to the Sports Bar to play in the international trivia contest. There were 6 teams most with 4-6 people...we were the only team of 2. Fred was a superstar at geography, pretty good at history and all I knew was that emu eggs were green. The game lasted about 90 minutes with us winning 3rd price....$20bz off our tab. Thursday morning we got up at 6 am. We'd set alarms on both our cell phones so we awoke a cuckoo clock and a barking dog...you guess who had which one.
