We are currently at a dock in Port Lucaya, Bahamas after crossing the Gulf Stream from West Palm Beach Florida, Thursday night November 29th. It was a very easy crossing, with little wind and very flat seas. In our last blog, we had just arrived in Vero Beach Florida, and were going to stay there “a couple of days”. Well, a couple of days turned into 10 days, staying in Vero for American Thanksgiving there, before heading for West Palm Beach. Vero Beach is a popular spot for boaters to stop on their way south, as it offers a nice safe mooring ball anchorage, with great facilities , excellent shopping, free transportation and a close nice beach. It’s so popular, they put 2, and sometimes 3 boats on each mooring ball. We met lots of other ... read more

Greetings from Nassau Today we were still hanging out in Marathon waiting for the right winds to take us on our journey. Cameron dinghied in and went to the Hurricane Lounge to watch the Texans on Sunday afternoon football. Around 5:30 we heard a strange trumpeting noise outside. It was coming from the boat next to ours. Sandy was standing on the bow of her boat blowing into a large conch shell. She was toasting the sunset with music and libation (a local custom called sundowners). In the course of having some work done on our engine we discovered that we had some water in the fuel tank. We hired a man named Roberto to get the water out. He was very talkative and shared that he was from Cuba. He escaped to the US 12 ... read more

The Blue Shark - Its not open yet - but had a chance to play this week in a preview outing. In combination with Paradise Island’s Ocean Club, it makes Nassau a real golf destination. If you hire a cab, say you are going to South Ocean Resort, near Stuart's Cove marina. Its a new - or redeveloped course by Greg Norman, so, it has that new course look....but its a gorgeous course and definitely ready to play. The clubhouse was not done, but it looked impressive from the outside. A forecaddie accompanied us throughout the round ..... made it easy to find balls in some of the tougher rough areas. Carts were brand new - looks as if there will be a GPS system on them in the near future. A couple holes are right ... read more

Wow! What a great day! It all started dreadfully early though...our alarm went off at 3:30 a.m. We made it to the airport and our flights through Miami and then on to Nassau went well. The flights are so short from Tampa there isn't even time for "Beverage Service". Basically, by the time you get in the air it's already time to come back down. This is our second trip to Atlantis but Cannon was pretty young the last time (it was five years ago) so he is sure to enjoy it even more this time. One great addition since our last visit is the addition of "Aquaventure" a 63 acre water park which is incredible. We couldn't wait to try it out since we had done a little research prior to arriving and found out ... read more

G'day All, we hope things are well back home. It's been a long while since our last entry, but we will have quite a few in the not too distant future as we have a fair bit of travel planned in the next six weeks, but I'll get to that a little later on. Our latest adventure was a pretty awesome one actually. As some of you know there are a number of guys that Fiona and I did our military training with posted to various locations around the US, and we decided it was time to have a get together as some of them are heading home at the end of the year. There was much to organise for this trip, but most importantly was the name we were going to give it. After weeks ... read more

----------video Saturday 8th September, Miami 4 hours drive and we made it to Miami, we only got lost once which wasnt to bad. Arrived at the South Beach Hostel (Miami Beach). From the front it actually doesn't look to bad and the reception area looked okay also....it has a bar selling beer for 3 dollars which was a bonus for us. Now the rooms were a different story, 3 bunkbeds crammed into a space big enough for two and there was also a set of 6 lockers in the room, needless to say everyone was crawling all over each other lol. The bathrooms were awful, we'll the girls was anyway, ants running all over the floor, mould all over the shower floor -I could of cryed when i had to get my kit off and get ... read more

We touched down at Nassau's tiny international airport at noon today. It's Sammy's first trip to these beautiful islands, and my second (although the first trip was consumed mostly with work, and the two days I spent there were hardly enough to find my way around even downtown Nassau). Fighting my urge to create a daily, minute-by-minute itinerary, I have agreed to Sam's request that we just "relax and wing it" for the duration of the stay. Because we arrived too early to check in, we spent a few hours touring Atlantis' resort grounds and made our way to a bar at the water's edge that we realized was the location for scenes in After the Sunset and Die Another Day . The beaches are inpeccable and the water is this most beautiful shade or turquoise ... read more

Well well well, Yes he's not dead! how are you all? None too surprisingly A lot of things have happened since my last update, almost too many to remember. ITs so busy on board you wouldn't believe. This week has been pretty insane as Mick, the only other English Photog has left, now leaving me as the sole representative of the UK in the group. I take this burden not lightly, especially after I had to endure the tedium of the 4th of July and all anti Uk associated things.. It did get me thinking though (on a slightly more philosophical note) that for all we rip the piss out of them, the yanks have actually got something right. I mean it is possibly the only time when their whole country is united in a celebration ... read more

Our last stop in the islands while working our way back thru the Bahamas towards the States was Green Turtle Cay. It is positioned in the Northern Abacos and is far enough west that we were able to stage here for crossing back to the USA. But we certainly took advantage of our time here while we waited for the perfect weather window to cross the Banks, the Gulf Stream, and make landfall in America- the 30 hour trip back to Florida. We ended up spending a week in Green Turtle waiting for good weather and had a blast exploring this quaint island for the second time. Green Turtle Cay was the first island we visited in the Bahamas when we started this adventure over 2 years ago (which seems more like a lifetime ago). It ... read more
