had a good week here managed to get a cocohut right on the front of the cliff top with picture perfect views of little vagator beach. Hired a moped for a few days and zipped up to the the german night market which was hugh filled with indian and european hippie stalls just like the ones in ibiza. Had a great night there was a catwalk with designers showing off their clothes and music. I finally braught some earings that ive wanted for ages and jade braught another leather bag. Went to bagga and calengute for the day, was awfull! full of tourists on holiday, too may sunloungers and shops, not a nice place glad i wasnt on holiday there, it has changed since i went 7 years ago and so overdeveloped. Ive just been on the craziest bus journey, they have sleeper buses that have little cabins for 2 to share, ours was over the back wheels and it was like being on a roller coaster all the way! For 10 hours ive been bumped up and down and actually feel like ive flown off the mattress,im surprised i hadnt fallen out of the bunk compleatly and spent the last 10 hours holding on for dear life, (i obviously didnt get any sleep). spent the first 5 nights in arambol in a really nice little beach hut called samsara. Met up with 2 girls hanah and karen who were staying nextdoor and had a good time here. Hanah can teach yoga so the 4 of us would be on the beach and bent into every position possible, ... read more

Asia » India » Karnataka » Hampi February 6th 2008

At last have finaly found somewhere that is gorgeous....Hampi, we stayed in a lovley little guesthouse called shanti. Hampi was a place many many years ago where there used to be huge bizzars trading goods like rubys and gold. Now inside the city walls there are cute guesthouses nice restraunts and also temples dating back to the 14 and 15th century. We spent a day walking round the ruins on a guided tour and we met a german girl called claudia who we befriended for the next few days. Learnt all about the history of the buildings and their importance. Lots of the temples had been turned in ruins as they were hindu temples and the muslims tore them down when they invaded hampi. Some temples do still remain as they had muslim influenzed archutecture as ... read more

Jade and i are now trying to find some peace and quite so we booked into a place called jungle bells in the aruka valley. The train trip through the eastern ghats is supposed to be fantastic! had a real amazing train ride sitting in a carrage with an indian family who fed us all the way, unfortinutley for me i wasnt eating after the being sick insident but jade was having the time of her life. Now obviously by now you have the picture that nothing is staright forward here so its not surprising when i tell you we missed our stop by about 2 hours and had to take to bus back another 1 and half hours to our destination, it was a nice scenic trip though so made a 6 hours trip that ... read more

Asia » India » Orissa » Bhubaneswar January 23rd 2008

After the whole chaos of getting to the train station and finding the platform we arrived in bhubaneswar, it was 10pm and ofcourse we couldnt find anyware to stay, apparently everywhere was full as there was a dotors confrence so after 2 hours of trawling the streets getting hassled to take a tuck tuck and also stared at alot we found another grott box room! its was more expensive thanb normal and equally a discusting as before, however we had no choice and was worn out with traveling. again this place looked like something that had just been blown up, everywhere was like walking though a building sight, it was dirty, smelly and chaotic. Spent a day at the zoo which was surprisingly ok for asian standards, tried to go to the sun temple but ofcourse ... read more

Arrived in kolcita and absolutley hated it, It all started in the airport, no cash machine so trailed round for ages trying to change money! had the usual palarver trying to get an honest taxi driver...theres no such thing got in one taxi then out again then into another (prepaid is the way forward). No room in the hotels from the lonley planet instead ended up in some sort of prison like cell, filthy dirty, leaking toilet and sink, a piece of torn newspaper half up against the window for a curtain and waht i can onlt decribe as underware or old curtain shuved in the cracks of the ceiling instead of plaster.....oh and ofcourse complete with bed bugs i was itching all night and covered in bites and it was only the first night...great! basically ... read more

Rob,jill, jamie, cecilia and me all went over to the beautiful island of phi phi for 5 days, wow this is a gorgeous place, you can still see the effects of the 2004 tsunami though which was really sad. spent a day chilling on the beach and also walked up to a view point (twice) to watch the sunset over the island. The best day out was when we all went on a longtail boat trip for the day to go snorking and accross to ko phi phi lay to where "the beach" was filmed. Jamie decided to go climbing up a rock and thinking because he was from wales that he could kinf of absail down....unfortinutley this didnt quite work out and resulted in a scraped leg and a chunk missing from his big toe. Saw loads ... read more

spent a week here, its the 2nd time ive been to pai and to me its still one of the nicest places in thailand. Living in a little bamboo hut by the river and riding round the hills on a moped was great fun. spent a few days trecking and stayed in a local village where we played (for hours) feather cock shuttle cock, it all got very competive at one stage and i think i had to tell jade hanah and rob that they had to give the kids a turn in the game! rob and i went rafting for the day however the river was very slow but it was nice to glide down the river and spot the birds, when the rapids did come it was fun fun fun! ... read more

Went to watch the thai boxing...we didnt know that we had paid to see weeners paste each other, ha ha it was entertaining though, they start boxing at a young age its their culture.... read more
