South America » Bolivia » Potosí Department » Potosi November 9th 2006

After a 2.5 hour taxi drive and sing along to some 80s music we arrived in the highest city in the world potosi, this place is stunning and full of character, set in the mountains its full of hussle and bussle of the local markets and food stalls. Everyone is dressed traditionally as they are indignious people, so theres lots of bright colours its amazing. stayed at kuala hostal which is really homley and theres heating as it gets really cold up here at night, you can see the snow capped mountains from our room. Met up with jonny again our long lost friend and went down a working mine for the day, its not forn the faint hearted or a clostrapheobic (if that how you spell it) and not for any saine person either, I ... read more

Ok so after about 25 hours on the move 3 buses and 1 jeap ride later we arrived in the pantanel home of the giant guinea pig that we have been searching for. Spent 6 very memorable days here geting up at 5.30am and out forraging for armadilos, caimens, racoons, cappiburys (named steve the giant guinea pig),parrots, toucans, praying birds and lots more. Did lots of trecking saw armadilos, yes crunchy on the outside smooth on the inside! fished for caimens and piranihs and scrambled round in lots of bushes getting stung by wasps and running for my life. Our gide was gabrielle who was loverly. Its amazing to see someone running round in bare feet catching crocks and armadilos and things, I got stung by a wasp on the first day and he found some tree ... read more

South America » Brazil » Paraná » Foz do Iguaçu October 26th 2006

After a long bus journey of about 16 hours we arrived in foz to see the iguazu falls. Theres two sides of the falls the brazilian and the argentinian sides. We spent the 1st day at the brazilian side where we went on a speed boat down the rapids. please note this is a wet ride, got absoulutly soaked as they dunk you under the waterfall itself, was cool speeding up and down the rapids, was funnier to wath the japenese tourist with their ponchos on trying to stay dry....no chance! On the 2nd day we visited the Argentinian side with shaun and rianah, 2 girls from england and diedrik the flying dutchman. The falls were amazing from the argentinain side as you could get close up. It took us all day walking (8 hours) round ... read more

illa grande is an island off rio, we thought we would trial out the tent, hmmme after much deliberation of which camp site to go to we chose the busiest and a nice man helped us put our tent up (because again we are retards and started putting all the rods in the wrong place would have been there all day otherwise) ok camping may have not been the best idea seen as it was boiling hot and we camped in an ants nest. spent a few days here eating alot and lazing about. went on a boat trip to this gorgeous beach and also did some trecking accross the island, the views were amazing.... read more
