Actually Repairing Parts.... Sandy and I noticed that while travelling through northern Mexico, nothing that can be repaired is disposed of. Every little shop specializes in some form of repair, where we would REPLACE an alternator on our vehicles, they would REPAIR it. Taller mechanico tienda's were everywhere...
Welding shops, machinists with lathes, tradesmen that could actually fix things. rather than replace them..
It would sure save our landfills if we disposed of less repairable parts...
Keep enjoying your trip, the weather is finally warming up, sunny and plus 2 to 6 all week, except at night when it drops to -25.....
See you all when you return!!
Geoff.
Google Luckily google is allowing me to "travel" vicariously with you and gives me a sense of your site seeing until your photos arrive. Thanks again for the very cool observations and descriptions. Tell Abbey that I've heard guinea pig tastes just like chicken anyway ... or was that rattle snake???? hmmmm well one of them tastes like chicken.

Just caught that as I was about to log-off...brilliant.
-34 with the windchill this morning but -7 this afternoon. For the first time this winter it took a real lecture to myself to get on my bike, I am ready to lose putting on all the winter clothes each morning. A belaclava and goggles must seem half a world away to you...wait, it almost is.
Cheers,
Bruce
Great Pictures Hi Pauline, Harold and Abbey, We have been following your trip via your blog and the scenery looks absolutely beautiful. I've never really considered this part of the world for potential travel but I've definitely changed my mind. I'm glad you are enjoying your travels and I hope you feel better for the rest of your trip.
Stay safe and have lots of fun.
Love,
Bill, Cindy, Natasha and Stephanie.

Hello My computer died - es muerto, verdad! So, I'm catching up with you at my neighbour's computer. Yahoo hid your posts away in spam!! I thought maybe you were lost for a minute. I sure wish that I could be there too. Except for the altitude sickness, I had it at much lower altitudes. What a weird feeling it is, especially when trying to walk in a hilly town. I was told to drink lots of chammomle tea (which I wasn't fond of) - but it sure helped and because it made me feel better, I started to like it a lot. They may call it Te de Manzanillo (a)? I just listened to a podcast (History of the World in 100 Objects) about the Llama and how, to the Inca's, it was everything - used for milk, wool, transportation, food. I hope you are feeling better by now. You will be amazed by the extra energy you will have when you get down to sea level again. You will feel like you are walking on springs from all the extra red blood cells you'll have. Hasta la proxima carta.
Hope you all feel better soon...it is almost spring break here, and we are looking forward to relaxing on the beach in Cancun(nothing like your adventure tho, but we are renewing our vows while we are down there)
safe travels all around:)
What fun!!! Too bad you couldn't stay in or near your hotel for the afternoon. Get a good rest when you get back to Cusco. Looking forward to your photos. Loads and loads of love. Mom.
