Things have been very cold here, but as usual we survive. Read s in the paper that Sierra Noble, Metis fiddler from Winnipeg won awards at a music festival in Vina del Mar last weekend. She and her Mom just loved Chile and the Chileans.There's a lot of posturing going on here in Federal politics. All poli,ticians are trying to set a new agenda for the next election which no one wants, and the Press is trying ot guess what will happen. I find it quite amusing.sgLAD YOU finally met your friends.Abbey, you must have had a great time in that pool. Loads of love @ hugs and kisses.

Dulce de Leche
I discovered Dulce de Leche here about a month ago. Delicious on anything. Apple slices are the best. Is yours in powder form? Ours is very thick and carmel-like. We can get it in 250 gr tubs or 4 litre tubs. We'll have some for you when you return. Keep up the great writing! I'm enjoying it lots.

Hello my little family travelers. Just catching up on your recent blogs and I can see what a wonderful time you are having. No stress! Oh, happy belated birthday Harold. Nice way to celebrate ones birthday. Dan's mom has come and gone. The visit went very well. We tried to keep her busy. She says the house is cozy with a good furnace and lots of hot water. What can I say! Dan wants you to know that in honour of your Chilean travels he has been consuming some lovely Chilean wine (Aconcagua Valley 2008 Merlot, good taste good price) Those hot dogs look wonderful, now you know what to make for Abbey's lunches Pauline. Get some recipes so you can cook some Chilean food for us Harold. The weather continues to be cold and I can't see much of spring yet. Lots of hugs and kisses , Yirka and Dan

Shorts, White Legs and Sol!!
Since you guys have left, there has not been a flake of snow! You know what that means....MUCHO FRIO!!!!!!!! Please keep taking and posting the photos, we love following the aventuras de los smith......and you should be truly happy you are not here right now, I think the windchill tonight is -45, and the same forecast for the next week... Maybe this weather esta su falta!!!! Geoff and Sandy

Have missed the last couple of days, wow you are really seeing lots. Love the zoo pics. Abbey is all smiles in every pic. Wearing shorts, can't remember wearing shorts. Dinner with Irene and Dan tonight. She loves cooking new things. I'm so glad they moved here. Sorry Pauline, I know you miss them.

I just had a very tough day at school and was ready to quit. so coming home and logging on to your trip was a lovely reprieve. It is bitterly cold here (minus 38 at 2;30 today) and since it is March 1, no one is particularly impressed. I envy you more and more and would love to be tagging along with you. As always Kate sends her love and is thinking about forgiving you for leaving her behind. (Although, if she were honest, she would admit that she is enjoying staying here. She is quite spoiled!) No special news here, I will let you know next e-mail whether I have decided to quit or not. (Brian is keeping his fingers crossed that I don't.) Take care, lots of love, Barb and company.

Loving your posts. I'm sure I've put on weight since you left. Your descriptions of the great food leaves me rooting through my fridge for a snack. Mmmmmm, tomales (humidas) my favourite food. I even had to learn to make them so I could eat them in Canada. Great photos. I love the one you two, Pauline and Abby. on the beach at Isla Negra. Here's hoping that there are internet cafes along the way on your tour. Buenas suerte, amigos! PS Gail and I had a magnificent dinner at the Tapley's a couple of nights ago. Nice to have some more great cooks immigrate to nuestra playa.
