Happy Birthay Harold Hi guys. Sounds like you're having all kinds of fun wish I was there as were are getting dumped on again but hey it's winter right?
We have been reading along but sorry for not posting but what the heck may as well jump in.
Have fun and take care and I promise I will post more now that all the work on our house is done for a while.
Love you all
Too Bad I love reading about your travels so far. I guess it is better to learn the hard way early on but it still sucks. After reading Elaine's comment I am laughing out loud! A good sense of humour while traveling is alway important. :)
Zoo! Hi there! I love your pictures of the zoo...it looks like a great place to visit. My family loves zoos--we have been to the Toronto Zoo and Calgary Zoo many times and we used to visit the very small, kind of pathetic Edmonton Zoo regularly. Our trip to California last year was planned around how many days we could spend at the San Diego Zoo. I'll show Alex and Samantha your pictures--they will be intrigued, I'm sure! I love the picture of Abbey and Pauline with the flowers--the blooms are amazing! How nice it must be for you to be wearing shorts and seeing flowers blooming in February! I could use some sunshine and flowers right about now (and we've had a pretty good winter!).
Pauline--isn't The Help wonderful??? I read it in the fall and LOVED it! I just finished reading The Distant Hours by Kate Morton...all 3 of her books are amazing and they are all available as ebooks, so if you run out of reading material, you might want to get one of hers! You'll enjoy them.
Take care,
Joanne
Papéleria Hola Los Smith,
I am loving reading your blog every day. First thing I look for when I fire up the computadora. Quando fui a San Miguel en Mexico, there were these little stationary stores all over the place. Same thing, everything was behind the counter or under glass. I eventually realized that these stores were always in close proximity to elementary schools, sometimes right across the street or next door. I am always losing things, so I was often at our closest Papéleria a comprar un bolígrafo o papel (ballpoint and paper). Much more civilized that our big box stores.
Keep on learning your Spanish, ¡Necessito practicar hablar con amigos!
Zoo looks wonderful First, Happy Birthday Harold. I hope that the impromtu party was fun! The pics of the zoo are lovely. At first I thought the giraffe was Abbey, but then I realized it didn't have a hat on, so took another look and realized I was mistaken. :) Tell Abbey I've been waiting for post cards and am very sad that none have arrived yet. I'll be expecting one in the next week or so.
Winter in Winnipeg We have enjoyed reading about your trip. It has been REALLY cold here and looking at pictures of a sunny southern locale always puts a smile on my face. Kate has decided she really likes the weekend; she just goes from lap to lap to lap. She has not been shy about making her "wants" known.
Take care, lots of love,
Barb, Brian, Casey, Jessy, Shoe and Kate
Happy Birthday Happy Birthday Harold.
Pauline ... hope you are holding up travelling with a 9 and 1/2 year old and a 10 and 3/4 year old.
Harold and Abbey no fights!
Latest Zack adventure
Zack stole my neighbours checkbook this morning. Picture him carefully watching Gianne and Dave then slowly reaching for the checkbook then snatching it and running full speed down the hall and dropping the checkbook at my entrance. Gianne and Dave came over laughing hysterically!
Enjoyed your blogs I enjoyed reading your blogs and sharing them with Ian as he watches the curling. Had a laugh at your "Check out the coconuts" - never thought to call them that! LOL
School is going well. Jonathon Wamboldt from RDPC is the new vice-principal till June at least. Slowly training him to do the library stuff. Did Kindergarten classes together till he gets the hang of it. Travel safe and enjoy each and every moment of a lifetime. ET & IT
lost camera So sorry to hear about your camera, but the mental image of Harold running through the streets was quite humorous. As for not knowing what to do if you caught him - the chief says to "lay a licking on him". LOL
I'm enjoying your blogs and pictures. Be safe. ET & IT
Hello from the Ledgers We are loving reading your blog. You are really doing well keeping everyone up to date. It feels like we are there with you. So many new experiences that you are sharing. Looking forward to reading more. Love the Ledgers.
The egg refrigeration debate I'm supposed to be writing a paper, but instead I thought I would do a bit of research on the egg refrigeration issue. I have wondered about this too. In many countries in the Middle East and Africa they don't refrigerate eggs and find it a bit bizarre that Canadians keep their eggs refrigerated. Is this just a symptom of our overly safety conscious culture or is there are real concern? It seems that there is both a practical and a safety component. Eggs last longer when they are refrigerated and there is less risk of salmonella. http://www.bccdc.ca/NR/rdonlyres/9CB9B489-30EF-4D8B-8AF9-E4AE28DC7613/0/Egg_Safety.pdf
Eggceptionally (I couldn't resist) though, I have eaten unrefrigerated eggs and I never had any concerns.
Enjoying the blog. Cheers. Maria
Rival Roughrider Spirit? I'm having a hard time believing that Rider Nation has competition for spirit! (I have been known to the kiss the Rider logo on my shirt...)
