Well, this is definitly the hardest entry I have made yet. I returned late last night from a 4 day trip to Sarajevo and Mostar in Bosnia-Herzegovina, and although it was a fascinating trip, the entire thing seems a little bit surreal right now. Hello all! Well, after a very very late train from Italy last night, I am home after a beautiful little 3 day rest at my Aunt Marlene and Uncle Luigi's house in a little town called Rosa in Italy. Rosa is a little town (VERY little) that sits about an hour inland by train from Venice, and just 5 minutes from the beautiful town of Bassano del Grappa. So, after another tiny bout of homesickness that was quickly cured by all my good friends at Royal LePage (The best really do live there!), last night and today have been great. One thing I definitly appreciate so much about Ljubljana is that I have yet to leave the house without hearing some sort of beautiful or strange music, either drifting from the speakers of one of the thousand coffee shops here (NONE of which are Starbucks! Strike one for monopolies! muah ha ha ha...), from a flute or violin or any other random instrument whose case is lying open on the ground with hundreds of Tolars thrown in, or from some sort of small band playing to ever increasing crouds in the street. Hello all!! So, I have just returned from a week long somewhat whirlwind tour of 3 very beautiful and all very different cities.... I started out catching a bus to Bled, a delightful little town in the north of Slovenia that sits next to a gorgeous but tiny little lake, rightly titled Bled Lake. Yesterday, after partying with a big group of Erasmus (European) students on Friday night, I took off with about 18 of them to a beautiful little town called Piran. The day started out pretty slowly, as they didn't realize how long it would take to rent cars. Car rental places are a little reluctant I think when a group of 18 or so 20 year old show up! Hello all... The past few days have been... well... hard. Yesterday was a complete write off... I spent 5 hours trying to manuver my way through about 8 blocks of the city to get my student card and bus pass. Let me tell you, it made me really appreciate UBC systems and kelowna city planning!
