MYYYY LAAAAAASSSSTTTTTT DAAAAAAAAAAYYY!!!!!!!!!!!! Soooo I headed back to Diala's house for my last night...tear! Apparently Wednesday nights are dead in Amman so we didn't last long and just headed back home to eat pita and lebanah! (this amazing cheese-like yogurt) It was perfect though because we had to wake up at 6am this morning to catch a ride to PETRAAAA!!!! (yes yes, the lost ancient temple in the 3rd Indiana Jones haha) Petra was amazing!!! THE SECOND WONDER OF THE WORLD!!! Took a few hours to get there but totally worth it! We hiked through the rock to finally get to one of the ancient temples of the 12 kings from back in the day. It was the only house of the 12 kings that got finished and took about 6 years with 20,000 workers..unbelieveable! If ... read more

The past two nights, I stayed with another buddy from UBC, Mayss Naber in Abdoun!! woohoooo Crazy/lovely family and fun to see how she runs it in the summer. She has a wonderful family--mom, dad, brother, sister with amazing bob marley hair!!! omg! I love it so much! and their 14-cousin jimmy who is staying with them for the summer from lebanon and is absolutely hilariuos!!! love that lil gangstaaaa! Failing to go to the Dead sea or petra the past few days due to waking up too late...ooops!, I finally get my butt to the Dead Sea!!! ...About 45 minutes west of Amman...It's really close to the Jordan River where apparently Jesus was baptized. Mayss told me that they have replicated the holy water he was baptized in and it was a nice touristy gift ... read more

ggaaaaaaaaa SO SORRRYYY it's taken foreverrrr but just got back with diala from an unbelievable weeeekend in wadi-rum and aqabaaaa!!! Thursday night, we headed out with a bunch of Diala's buddies on a bus 3-4 hours south to Wadi-Rum aka DESERTTTT! There was a huuuuge annual dance/dj show going on called Distant Heat that took place outside in the sand and in the middle of what looked like no where! Goes from 10pm-10am and so you can only imagine what it looks like as the sun rises in the desert as you've been dancing in the dark all night...WOW! **I am weak and unlike non-stop Jordanians, I couldn't make it past 4am hahaha but luckily, Diala woke me up around 5 or 6 and then went back on my dancing feet!!! hahaha truly an outstanding, kinda ... read more

July 25/26 So made it safely to the Heathrow Airport and made my flight to go seeeee DIALAAAA!!!! HABIBIIII!!!! (means “my love” in Arabic) yaaayyy no troubles at the airport and even saw my first camel along the side of the road! Woohooo Met Diala’s mom, dad, older brother, sister and aunts…Her brother, Isam, actually went to Marquette and her sister, Jumana, went to Macalester—what a small world! Then went out and met Diala’s buddies...everyone has been sooo nice so far! Next day, Diala’s friend, Mees, who actually goes to UBC too invited all his friends over for a traditional Palestinian meal. He is Palestinian and his parents are strict muslims so it was cool and interesting to talk with them and experience a traditional meal in their home. They asked if this was my first ... read more

So I’m about to go to bed right now…It’s almost 12:30 am but I want to recap today since it was my last day with miss Melissa Hollis and being in London…tear. Headed out to London and the girls showed me some more classic sights…Saw the tower of London and it’s sweet moat and the Tower Bridge. A dinky little pirate boat had to go under so we even witnessed the bridge being closed off and raising/lowering its bridge while we were on it! Earlier, they took me to Camden where little kiosks and local shops were open and busy busy busy!!!! It was crazy and hectic—it was almost like a bizarre of spices, clothes, jewelry, food, and incense. Amazing!!! We kept walking around and even went back to Covent Garden since we had so much ... read more

First day out in London, baby! Woohooooo A bit cloudy but hot for sure! We had to take the train back into central London since London is sooo big and Lara’s b/f (Andy) lives in an area similar to our suburbs of a big city called Twickenham next to the big football rugby union and stadium…And then we went back on the tube (subway) to who knows where, I just follow and try to stick as close as possible to Mel and Lara since they buzzzz through the crowds. The tube felt a tad miserable due to the huge amounts of people therefore breathing in tight spaces..blahhhh but all worth the experience! Weee We ventured through some parks, saw the queen’s palace/London eye/Westminster abbey/Big Ben, and the changing of the guards parade. Mel and I grabbed ... read more

Kinda cloudy day but no rain and it was warm…Mel and her madre took me out to the city of Lichfield--apparently it is a “city” because it has a cathedral and if a town doesn’t have one it is called a town or a village. The Lichfield cathedral is the only cathedral in England that has three spirals…fancy that! The city itself is adorable with hidden areas that reminded Mel and I of such places as diagon alley from harry potter...hehe. Her mom took me for tea and cake at another cute little pub called the “Hedgehog.” So today was my last day in Newborough where Mel lives…I was sad to already be leaving because it was such a unique and amazing experience in the country sides of England. Definitely ten times more breathtaking than in ... read more

Lara, Mel and I headed out to Chatsworth in the lovely Derbyshire where Pride and Prejudice (the latest one with Kiera Knightley) was filmed. Beautiful scenery and just absolutely heavenly…I was nostalgic all day long and couldn’t stop staring at rolling hills of sheep and lush greenness. We walked around and in and out of the gardens and around the little pond on the land. Didn’t go inside the actual castle/mansion b/c costed a few extra pounds, but I was just as satisfied with the scenery---god! Soooo gorgeous! We packed a lunch so ate luncheon on the river of the estate and made friends with ducks that came up to our feet because they wanted food so bad. After taking in all of Chatsworth in (I don’t know if that would actually be possible b/c the ... read more

Sooo the journey begins... Arrived at the Gatwick airport at 7am on Sat, July 19...blahh didn't sleep much b/c too excited, but I was picked up by Melissa, buddy who lived down the hall from me in first year at UBC. My first awakening that I was in another country was when I went for the drivers side of the car to get in and Mel was like "what are ya doing?"...yeahhhhh you sit on the right side..oops But we drove out 3 hours to her hometown, Burton-upon-Trent....close to Nottingham!! Gorgeous country side just as you would imagine..WOW! Rolling hills of barley and crops with some random trees and hedges lining the two laned roads. Truly scenic! We were both exhausted when we finally got to her home--me from flying and her from waking up at ... read more
