london eye and big ben! woohooo
First day out in London, baby! Woohooooo
A bit cloudy but hot for sure! We had to take the train back into central London since London is sooo big and Lara’s b/f (Andy) lives in an area similar to our suburbs of a big city called Twickenham next to the big football rugby union and stadium…And then we went back on the tube (subway) to who knows where, I just follow and try to stick as close as possible to Mel and Lara since they buzzzz through the crowds. The tube felt a tad miserable due to the huge amounts of people therefore breathing in tight spaces..blahhhh but all worth the experience! Weee
We ventured through some parks, saw the queen’s palace/London eye/Westminster abbey/Big Ben, and the changing of the guards parade. Mel and I grabbed lunch with her friend from “uni” (university) at a cute pub overlooking the river Thames and we even saw Sir Francis Drake’s ship…well, a replica but I believe he was under the order of Elizabeth and apparently sailed around the globe.—that’s what is said in the back of the menu but didn’t they think the world was flat back then??? As we came out of lunch, Lara met up with us who was at lunch with Andy and she showed us the house from the movie, Bridget Jones’ Diary…any fans??? I’ll post a picture!!! It was in a random nook by this market we came out of.
Recharged, we set out for Covent Garden Market and basically rocked out by shopping, wandering, and sipping on English breakfast tea and lemonade. Awesome area and so much to look at. The girls decided it would be fun to go see a show and apparently in the West End of London, they have an area that resembles Broadway in NY having shows from the Lion King to Jersey Boys. We ended up choosing The Sound of Music which was in Oxford Circus and it was fantastic! The girls thought it was ironic b/c all week I was singing “The Hills are alivvvve with the soundddd of musicccc..ahhh ahh ahhh ahhhh” while we were out in the country because seriously IT LOOKED JUST LIKE THE MOVIE MINUS MOUNTAINS but they would just look at me and go “wrong country dude!” haha ohhhh yes, a lovely American moment…hahaha
So, saw the play and then trained it back home and fell asleep.
