In just a few days, it will mark the beginning of my new life in Europe a YEAR ago!!! I am in shock! So much has happened. I have learned how to appreicate more in my life such as family, friends and life goals. I met the most incredible man, ever! I have learned to sharpen my skills as a teacher and became independent in a country I couldn´t call my own. I learned how to order Chinese over the phone.... I learned how different Mexicans and Spaniards really are..... I learned that in just a weekend you can travel to at least two other countries. And most importantly, I have learned that it is possible to slow life down and to live in it in its purest form. I have met a lot of characters ... read more
I have had the hardest time making any time for emails, phone calls and least of all the blog!! Things are running quite smoothly over here on the Iberian Peninsula. So far I found the routine that suits me with a few adjustments here and there, but for the most part its teaching, then more teaching...and when I have some free time its planning for teaching. I am definitely keeping busy. The holidays are coming up very soon, and I am planning on going home. A trip to Cali isnt going to be possible though...tear..at least not right now. Last week, my brother, Ken and his girlfriend Jen( Kennifer) were my very first vistiors here in Madrid! We had so much fun! We laughed so much, I swear Alejandro peed his pants....i know he did. ;) ... read more
Allow me to introduce you to the new members of the Mateo Inurria household. Mac, short for Mackenzie and Cheese, short for Chester. I actually don’t know what kind of turtles they are, I need to do some internet research, but they like their crunchy shrimp, their mommy and aunties. They are so much better to watch then T.V. So cute. I have to admit though, I have gone through a bit of post modem depression. I just wasn’t sure if I was able to take on the responsibilities that these two little ones needed. I realized that I could do it. I may not be perfect, but it is a work in progress and we will all learn how to cope with whatever may arise. We go for long walks to the park. We have ... read more
My birthday has come and go. 25 is not as scary as I thought. In fact, I have completely embraced and it had a wonderful memory to carry with me for the next 25 years. The morning of my birthday I walked outside onto the busy Madrid street, took a deep breath and smiled. I was overcome with such emotion. The best present I could give myself was this exact moment. The sun was already heating my face and Spainsh can be heard from those walking past me. I’m in Madrid!!! My birthday day was very sweet and I felt very loved by my new Madrid family. Laini surprised me with a Filipina cake from a Filipina store a few blocks from the house. I was soo excited to have found the store and she ... read more
Yesterday, I flew a four person plane!!!!! okay, I may not have taken off, or landed, but once up in the air, I had put on the headphones, grabbed the controls and headed out to Toledo, aproximately 2 hours in the car from Madrid, but 45 min on plane. Our capitan, Mr. Alejandro Basilio...aka...mi Pedro..... took us up into the blue on a beautiful Sunday morning... Laini also came as offical cinetographer and she was a bit apprehensive at first...but the Capitan reassured us that we were all very safe. Once up in the air, we travelled quite slow, about 200 kilometers or so....4,000 meters high! Alejandro did this one trick, where he actually climbs up into the air creating an arch with the plane, then quickly decends! This creates everything else in the cockpit that ... read more
Imagine will you...thousands upon thousands of people having made their way to a small town near Valencia, Spain. No more than 30 min. from the beach, this once quiet and serene town, Bunol, becomes the center of the worlds largest tomato fight. Crammed into the streets like cattle, the pushing, the heat and the overwhelming body odor combined with the the excitement of the being the first to throw the tomatoes, everyone is pumped and shouting with anticipation.... Once in the crowd and there was enough space between people, there were shouts of "camasita, camasita, camasita"! If there was a shirt on, you better beleive it would be ripped off! I was hiding between Alejandro and Laini, and I was the only one fortunate enough to had kept my shirt on! It is quite possibly one ... read more
Okay... I am so sorry to say, I have no pictures....my camera broke two weeks ago in France and I have had no time to get it checked out, but I wanted to say a quick little something about what is going on now..... Well, I spent 20 some days in France. The first two weeks in Toulouse....a great city, that is actually the third largest in France, but it felt so quaint and charming. I liked it. I spent may hours along the tree lined banks of the canals stetching and writng in my journal. It was realtively windy , but I invited the breeze to mask the heat of the sun. On most of my days off, I tried to use the lap top and find free WI- FI connection. Aggravating at times, but ... read more
I was desperate for bleach white walls, fresh sun dried clothes hanging from taunt lines, outside windows decorated with red flowers. Welcome to Lagos, in fact, welcome to all of Europe along the Mediterranean coast. Lagos, a historic port, 3 hours from Seville, Spain is a combination of quaint fishing lifestyle and a booming tourist trap. I found my way to Lagos , Portugal, for some much deserved solitude. It has been a two and a half months since leaving the country I know and exploring the “open minded Europe”, and I had to recoporate from the previous two weeks.... I am constantly trying new ways of transportation that is cheap and somewhat comfortable, but for the most part, I am really flexible and my standards have dropped a few degrees below diva…. I started ... read more

All inclusive resort and spa....a pink hotel, a master bedroom suite with huge closets, T.V and a full mini bar..... oh my goodness!!!! It was soooo fantastic. My veiw was incredible. That night with the balcony door open, the ocean waves lulled me to sleep.....It was one of the best sleeps of my LIFE!!!!! From Cadiz, it took three hours on bus. We left around 6 in the morning to make best use of our time in Marbella. Apparently, this beach on the Andulusian coast is a hot spot for many celebrities... i can never get away form the L.A life....crazy....anyway.... Sean Connery..."grasthisis"...has a house out here......Puff Daddy and his entourage is seen out on his yacht, Beyonce and Jay-Z have gotten it on ... read more
After week three of classes, and many days laying out by the pool, I had to stop teasing myself and get down to see the real ocean. The south of Spain is known for the their amazing beaches and resorts. I really wanted to go to a Spa.... i know... but after all this backpacking..which is such hard work.... I wanted to be spolied......well, it didnt happen, funds are limited...so instead, we got really creative....hostel.....aww man....!! We started our trip on a five hour train ride to Cadiz. A small barrio of fishermen, and a small strip of a beach. Extremely hot weather, and extremely hot guys...i think Cadiz has the hottest men in all of Europe.... Seriously...every where I walked, there was one on his vespa, another with his mother, another with his girlfriend...which is ... read more
