Hello friends and family, This blog details our adventures through Guatamala. If you get the chance to visit this country then we highly recomend it! Guatamala is ALL TIME, probably one of the sickest countries that we have been to. Nicaragua left a great taste in our mouths and it was sad to leave her behind but there were many more adventures waiting for us in Guatamala. We decided to skip Honduras and El Salvador but the bus companies do not travel at night (due to armed hold ups) so we spent an interesting night in Honduras and then finally ended up in Guatamala city. Hi everyone, Our group has finally split up, with some people going home and some people travelling to other destinations. Now I Alana and myself have to write this blog by our selves. We will try to keep it short and sweet. Northern Columbia was the place for goodbyes. After months of traveling together it was time to part ways and so we hugged and cried as the sun set on our last moments together. Hello friends and family, We are currently sitting on the beach in Equador, after making our way through Northern Peru. However, I must start where I left off........The Bolivian/Peru border. We thought some trouble might arise as we were 10 days over our visa, but thanks to the Custom officers poor math skills and Alanas tears, we were able to cross without issues. We travelled down to Arequipa, Perus second largest city (Sits at the base of Mt Misti, a snow capped volcanoe). After of few days of relaxing by the pool and eating nice foods we were off again. Onto ANOTHER bus and back up into high altitudes. This time to the famous city of Cusco. Bloody Bolivia PART 1, Hey friends and family, Where to start? Crossed the border into Bolivia without hassels and made it to the wild wild west town of Tupiza. This is where Buch Cassidy aqnd the Sun Dance Kid where finally killed. Of course we had to do some old fashioned horse riding, so we put on our best cowboy clothes and set out on a ride through the canyon. Cut a long story short, a flash flood come down the canyon and strait into us. Horses and people were screaming and Ian (lying half on his horse, with a horrified look on his face) flew off down the valley as his spooked horse went crazy. After leaving Rio we joined forces with Mike and Tamsin (a lovely english couple), and made our way over to the Island paradise of Ilha Grande. It is a rather large island with no roads and no cars. The main activities are hiking, boat tours and beaches. After jumping off our unreliable boat, alana and paul walked down the beach and up some hills to their lovely hostel. We bluffed our way into an all you can eat buffet and had three plates between the six of us (and various street cats and dogs).
