Hey everyone, Well fall is finally here and the colors of the trees are trurning from green to all kinds of yellows, oranges, and reds. Its still been pretty nice here weather wise. Much cooler than it was in the summer and I am enjoying the cooler "sweater" weather instead of the scorching hot three showers a day humid heat. The past two weeks have been busy again so I am finally just getting around to updating~! Halloween here was a great success with two full days of princesses, super heroes, ghosts, goblins and a homemade haunted house to boot. We were busy but it was worth it to spend some time with the kids and actually get a day to play and not teach. I was in charge of the Candy Apple stand with Jasmine ... read more
So I know I am a little late in posting this, seeing as tho Pajama Party was last week and all but it was such a good time that it has taken me this long to recouperate. So here is the low down on what this Pajama party business is all about. Every year at Sullivan School there are two opportunities for the parents to come in and watch their children to see how they are doing. Basically, its where us teachers have to bust our butts and get something "rehearsed" for the kids to "perform" so that the parents are happy with what their children are learning in school. And when the parents see how wonderful their lovely children are doing this makes them very very happy ($$) which in turn makes my boss very ... read more
So lately I have been here and there and everywhere and because I am very neglectful about blogging I thought I would take a time out from life and spend this evenin updating all of you who love me and miss me....you do still love me dont you? Okay, good. Here are the tales of my most recent adventures and happenings in Korea.... First of all, I am in utter shock that it is October and even more shock that its the middle of October and before we all know it, November will be here. Its really started to sink in that my time here is slowly coming to an end and I just know that I am truly going to miss being here. That being said I am looking forward to coming home where things ... read more
I know, I know, its been like a billion years since I have wrote any sort of update or posted any pics. I do sincerely apologize and hope that this detailed update will please all of you who think I have fallen off the Earth. Actually the complete opposite has happened, life has been extrememely unreal the past month and I feel like I have been to all ends of the world and back. Summer was unreal here in so many ways, unreal hot, unreal busy and unreal short~! After the great Muuido expedition where I received the sunburn of a lifetime, there were a few more beach trips to be had. I went out to Daecheon beach with some friends that live in Gunsan. That was quite an adventure in itself. First off I dont recommend ... read more
As the summer months seems to be coming to a rapid close, I figured it was high time to do some serious beach bumming for a weekend. This isn't my first beach experience in Korea but it was my first time out to Muuido Island which is just outside of Incheon (where the international airport is located). I have a friend from back home, Kimberly, who has recently moved to South Korea and her and I took a nice overnight trip out to the Islands for the weekend. At first we weren't too sure exactly where to go but figured it couldn't be too difficult. I had looked up some different beach spots and had the jist of where we were going...worse case scenario, who doesn't like an adventrue right? So we hoped on the subway ... read more
Hey guys, So its been just over a week since I have been on here and I guess there was a problem with the database and some peoples blog entries were lost. I ended up losing 8 entries...sniff sniff, tear. So I hope that they can be recovered cause there were some good memories written in those! But yeah that is what happened to them in case you were wondering...and now on to the goods~! As most of you have heard, I had the amazing opportunity to travel to China over my summer vacation. Although I haven't travelled to many places in the world (yet) I must say that this was a wonderful and amazing experience that I will never forget. I left South Korea on July 29th and returned on August 2nd. I decided to ... read more
Its hard to believe that I have been here for five months already! The time has flown by and I have a lot of new things to update. July has come and almost gone now but it brought in some unbelievable heat. Which isn't too bad until you factor in the humidity! Somedays its been 32 degrees with 94% humidity...makes for some very sweaty days and unbearable children. The current temperature is 26 degrees with 79% humidity making it feel like 36 degrees. Needless to say I am grateful for my air conditioning and am looking to make friends with a fan salesmen. Its been a bit crazy around here with weather, kids, and preparation for holidays. This week we are only teaching half days because our kindergarten kids are on holidays for two weeks. ... read more
Hello there friends and family! Here is another one of my long awaited updates...The past couple of weeks have flown by at an unbelievably fast past. It seems that the weeks are flying by and the weekends seem to go even faster. But life is good and I am keeping busy as usual. Last weekend was Canada Day in Seoul. I met up with some friends (actually the one girl, Tamara is my friend Ashley's cousin) and we attended a huge celebration at a nearby campground called Nanji Campground. Finding this place was an adventure in itself and we actually walked about an hour and a half in the wrong direction before we realized that we were lost and in need of some direction. But after a quick beer stop and some help from some ... read more
Hey everyone...my sincere apologies for the lack of updates this month. There hasn't been too much new and exciting that has happened...well until yesterday that is! I decided to go for a much needed workout after a very busy and hectic week at school. I have started to learn the bus system in Korea and am quite pleased with myself that I am starting to become better at getting around. The bus that goes to my gym is 4212. So off we go to the gym no problem in the bus. My friend Janice left the gym before me and I told her I would call her when I got home. There is another bus that runs a bit closer to the gym, bus number 4312. Now, I am not too sure where I got ... read more
Well I am writing to you from the inside of my little studio apartment on a sunny saturday afternoon. I have officially been in South Korea for three months...one third of the way already! Its so hard to believe how fast the first three months have gone by! It's crazy to think that when I come back to Canada that it will have been a year since I have driven a car and Edmonton will seem like a small city to be living in compared to Seoul! Things here are still going great and I have just finished up my first round of after school report cards. A more gueling task then I thought but now I know what to expect and can be more prepared for next time. Last weekend we had the chance ... read more
