Its hard to believe that I have been here for five months already! The time has flown by and I have a lot of new things to update. July has come and almost gone now but it brought in some unbelievable heat. Which isn't too bad until you factor in the humidity! Somedays its been 32 degrees with 94% humidity...makes for some very sweaty days and unbearable children. The current temperature is 26 degrees with 79% humidity making it feel like 36 degrees. Needless to say I am grateful for my air conditioning and am looking to make friends with a fan salesmen.
Its been a bit crazy around here with weather, kids, and preparation for holidays. This week we are only teaching half days because our kindergarten kids are on holidays for two weeks. Then next week the whole school is on Vacation so we get the full week off. I will be heading to China for five days which I am unbelievably excited about! I am going on a tour with 21 other people, of which I know none of. But that is what adventure is all about right? Seeing new places and meeting new people! I will

be going to the Great Wall, Tian'anmen Square, Summer Palace, Temple of Haven, Taejok folk Village and theen I booked a full day at a Chinese Spa where there is a hot springs and other pampering amenities. I am really looking forward to this vacation and I will be sure to take lots of pictures!
Two weekends ago, I went to Insa-dong and toured around Gyeongbokgung Palace with Joni...a co worker of mine. It was the perfect day to go, surprisingly not too busy and the weather wasn't too too hot! Where the actual palace is is a huge compound. There are many architectural details on these buildings and the comppound itself is quite large. Its actually the place where we started out for the Amazing Race, but because of the race there wasn't really a chance to tour around. But I was happy to be able to go back there and explore a bit more, I also got to see the changing of the guards ceremony that takes place there so that was a great experience.
We also had the annual Sullivan school Water day last week. It was a very rainy and wet day but the kids and teacher both had a blast! It was a great stress reliever and a great way to send the kids off for their vacation. There was elaborate sprinkler systems, three pools and enough water balloons to satisfy all the kids and teachers. The rain did not put a damper on the kids enthusiasm and the day went off without a hitch!
And after all the water day excitement, crazy weather, and hectic teaching week, we sent the kids off to their parents and enjoyed a nice staff retreat on Saturday~! My amazing boss Marie took all of the staff from Sullivan to the Korean East Coast for some much needed relaxing on the beach and time away from school and the city. We weren' to extatic about waking up at 6 a.m on a Saturday but we all showed up bright and early ready to board the bus. One rest stop and about three and half hours later we arrived at Ojukheon Municipal Museum. A site that was too good to miss since we were in the area! The exhibition itself is again set up in the compound format with different buidlings that house artifacts and tid bits of information about the building. I have a whole pamphlet of information about the museum but if you want to read about it here is the website... www.ojukheon.or.kr
So I guess other than that not too much else is new and exciting. Its been awesome having the mornings off and I am for sure looking forward to getting out of here for a few days. Again, for all of you that are playing baseball and living it up on a houseboat somewhere, can't wait til next summer when we will all be ripping it up again!!
