We were delayed a bit flying into Melbourne but got a taxi ok & headed to Sophie's Aunty's house in Toorak, (a suburb of Melbourne) where she was house sitting whilst they were on holiday. We went for a walk & did a bit of food shopping & then got ready & went to meet Sophie & some of her friends in Federation Square. We spent the night in a bar called Transport & had some dinner there before going home about 11.45pm. On Saturday, Sophie, Andy & I went to Melbourne Zoo after a fry up breakfast. We had a great day, we got to see Orangutan's really close up, (one even gave me a kiss through the glass), we saw an elephant chase & make loud noises at a peacock & lots of other

I could not believe it when I walked into the Arrivals Hall & he was already sat there waiting, I felt really bad, he had even brought me some perfume! It was really nice but also strange to see him. We went back to our apartment & had Champagne & Strawberries & watched TV & talked; it was so nice to be able to have a conversation face to face. On Friday we got up, had breakfast, got ready & said a quick hello to Claire & Mike before heading to Darling Harbour to the Aquarium which was great. We had a late lunch

We got the train & the bus to the apartment complex & checked in their apartment, we walked into Bondi & did some food shopping and had a walk to the beach in the afternoon; we moaned about the rain & the cold & had a nice tea & some Goon. There was a really bad storm on Friday night with gale force winds & it was still like that when we woke up on Saturday morning. When the rain eventually seemed to die down a bit

We got the shuttle bus there & checked in, we got the bus back into Byron as the Arts Factory was a little walk away from town. Claire had to get a few things sorted for Michael's arrival so I had a walk around the shops & then went & took some photos of the beach & sat in the sun reading my book. I got chatting to a lady who had travelled to 170 countries & was saying how much I would love New Zealand & the Cook Islands. I met Claire & we went to a nice little cafe &

We couldn't check in so we put our stuff in storage & headed into the City for some shopping & a look around. We had planned to go to Air New Zealand to change our flights but it wasn't open so we thought we could did it on Monday. Claire helped me buy some clothes & shoes & stuff so I didn't look a complete tramp for when Andy arrived in Sydney; we had a coffee & then headed back to the hostel to make tea. We had some wine & didn't really do a lot, Richmond was supposed to meet us but he hadn't been

James, Claire & I headed to an internet cafe for an hour or so before going to a meet & greet in the hostel where you got a free glass of wine, (travellers will do anything for free booze!) We then went to the supermarket & cooked tea, which was it for Thursday, we weren't supposed to drink in the YHA but we sneaked our case of Goon in & had a few glasses. Friday we had planned to get surf boards from the hostel & teach ourselves to surf or at least have a go but unfortunately they were all booked out. We had a walk on the beach & sat on the sand, although it was sunny there was a

We checked in the hostel & went for about but there wasn't a lot to do & the weather was rubbish so we caught up on some sleep, wrote in our journals & had some food. On Monday we got up really early & had our briefing about Fraser Island & got put into three groups for each 4x4 van, there was 23 of us in total, seven of us in our van, Edward & Hayley, a couple from somewhere down south, George & Abbey, 2 cousins, also from down south, James, Claire & me. Claire & I tossed a coin to see who would drive the van first, (James hadn't driven in 10 years, so didn't want

It was quite a relaxed atmosphere at 1770, (named after the year Captain James Cook discovered it), & not as commercial as Airlie or Cairns which was a refreshing change. On Friday we had a lazy day, we did a tour that the hostel provided free of charge, driving round the two small towns & highlighting the activities & things we could see & do during our stay. We had some lunch & a lazy afternoon lying in hammocks, reading our books & nosing around town, it was nice & relaxing. We had a bit of wine & a civilised evening. On Saturday morning

We were in the smallest of rooms with three bunk beds, James, Claire & I had to go on the top of each bunk. We went for a drink in a Mexican bar during happy & that was goodbye to the detox. On the way home we got a Subway & a box of Goon between Claire & I & James got one for himself. We sat outside & chatted to our roomies Chris & George from Dorset & a German girl who didn't stay long, I got a little tipsy & it was a nice evening. Monday morning Claire made James

We got the bus up to the north of the island to Horseshoe Bay & stayed in a place called Bungalow Bay with lots of little wooden huts, attached to a Koala Sanctuary. When we arrived we had to wait for the hut to be cleaned so we got changed & headed straight to the beach to get bronzed, we came back & had an afternoon nap as we were exhausted after the overnight journey which we didn't get to sleep on much as we got kicked off at about 3.30am for the bus to refuel. We got
