Well we hit Lima (well Mirafloes which is the posh suburb on the coast) and instantly noticed how lovely and fun all the locals were. The little guy on the plane gave me his card and home address and telephone number and said if we hit any trouble and needed a place to stay or help with anything just give him a buzz. We celebrated our first wedding anniversary in style at a nice Hotel, where they gave us a top floor suite, and had dinner looking over the coastline while sipping on our Pisco Sours. Not to be beaten I [View Full Entry]

Peruvian Wild West
El Zorro
The Flight of the Condors

It was an emotional fairwell, especially as we had a little encounter with the phenomenon of the overbooking flights by central american airlines. A plane carries 94 people so you sell 116 tickets and hope some don´t show up!?!? We show up and get told there are no seats left - some very nice chatting from us pointing out that it is our up and coming first wedding aniversary and a few strategic warping of the truth regarding having to be in Lima for onward connections and some well placed tears by Sarita (Bollywood is calling this girl - I said [View Full Entry]

Sarita and her new love...the canal
The local leg warmers
More local fashions

After we last updated the blog we have wandered down the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica into Panama. Costa Rica was great. We headed in with tales of how it is "so American....souless" but I think everyone is being a tad harsh. It has beautiful beaches backing onto amazing jungle. What else could you want.... well maybe a bit of surf on those beaches would have been nice. The curse of Adam de Gruchy goes on. I swear I could get work on ships. They would pay me just to be on board which would assure them of flat seas for [View Full Entry]

Hola We´ve made it into Costa Rica, via a few days in Nicaragua (and an overnight stay in supposedly scarey San Salvador, which thankfully wasn´t so scarey) and are chilling for a little while in the cloud forests at Monte Verde All´s well here (despite Adam´s ice trauma!). We´ll be heading down to the Costa Rican Caribbean coast tomorrow, from where we´ll pop down to Panama. It´s one month down already - time is flying! Anyway , enough chat .... here´s some photos for your viewing pleasure :) xx [View Full Entry]

Some may know Sean as The Spanish One from Highlander the movie, and think as an immortal Spanish speaker he would do just fine in Central America, but it is as his role as (best said with Sean Connery accent complete with lisp) super sexy secret spy James Bond that he would run into trouble. Why you ask? Because he has his drinks shaken and not stirred, shakened means ice and ice means gastrointestinal mishaps! My name is Adam de Gruchy and I am just one of those whose has fallen prey to the central american ice. My story starts on [View Full Entry]

Boat rides

Arrived safe and sound with a fairly smooth ride all the way.... these hurricanes aren't that bad. Had a day to run around Mexico City and see some sights. It's a really nice city.....well the bits we saw were. We put up some photos to capture the highlights for me (as Sarita has been hit hard by the dreaded jet lag and has popped off to bed) which were a multitude of squirrels, markets and good food. But a city is a city so we're not hanging here long and have booked a bus to Oaxaca tomorrow. [View Full Entry]
