Hello Everyone! So this a week or so late, but I want to fill you in on the trip I took to Dublin, 3 days after I got back from Nice, France. I was meeting Ben Webster, so I was pumped. I left Saturday morning. I had planned to catch the Stansted express to get to the airport at 4:15am. I had my alarms set so I wouldn't sleep in. But . . . guess what. I set them for 3:30pm. I woke up at 3:56 and missed my train. I got the next one at 4:30. My flight was leaving [View Full Entry]

Bonjour and hello from Nice, france! I am sitting here is our hostel and I thought I would take a moment to write a short entry for everyone! I am typing on a french keyboard so hopefully my mother will forgive the inevitable typos that will occur. I am travelling with two of my flatmates, Max and Matt. We had an early flight so we had to catch our train to the airport at 4:10am. It was delayed, but we still made it in plenty of time. We flew easyjet, which was a first for me, and what I would call [View Full Entry]

Hello Everyone, I just got off Skype with Amanda Jo and started to think about what I have scene so far in the past 3 months. Some of the things I have seen have been repeats, but I think they are still worth mentioning. You see, sometimes I get a little depressed because I work 45 hours a week, and when I finally get a weekend where I can go do something, I tend to want to relax. So let's take stock of what I have done or seen so far. England Westminster Abbey Tower of London Saint Paul's Cathedral Museum [View Full Entry]

Hello Everyone! What's new? Well I have been working hard day in and day out. Its becoming very routine at work. I am really looking forward to taking on more responsibility. Today I worked and it was a holiday, so I will get an extra vacation day to use whenever I want. I spent it much like I did the last one I worked; surfing the net and occasionally doing work. I went and saw a play called God of Carnage starring Ralph Fiennes. For those of you who don't know who he is, he plays Lord Voldemort in the Harry [View Full Entry]

Hello Everyone! I know that is this long over due, however, better to be late than to never post at all. This message shows I am located in Sorrento, Italy. I was there this past weekend and it was amazing. I little more on that after I fill you in on the past few weeks. Life has been going really well for me the past few weeks. I have been kept busy at work due to the fact we have a person on the team leaving this Friday. As a result, I was 'traded' from the European side of security lending [View Full Entry]

Happy Sunday, Today is a very special day, as the optimism that the past week provided us as far as the turning of spring has been shattered to pieces. The pictures indicate what I wok up to. Snow! not just snow, but snow accumulation. Now for those of you from the midwest you know that this can hardly be considered accumulation, however in London it definitely counts. I had great ambitions today. I was going to wake up, run, go to star bucks to write my paper, and then finally make a nice dinner. The run has been nixed. So I [View Full Entry]

Hello Everyone, Today we had a dress down Friday at work for charity. Essentially for each article fo clothing you wear that is casual, you donate 2 pounds for charity. I am a poor intern, so I was still dressed up. I know, why couldn't I spare a bit for charity? That answer is easy enough. I had to save my four pounds to to join inon the sweepstakes we are having on the Grand National Race this saturday. You pay 2 pounds andyou pick a horses name. If they win so do you. The first horse I "purchased" out foa [View Full Entry]

Good Morning Everyone! Yesterday was a big day at the office. I have finally been given a permanent workspace with my team. Its nice to get a chance to interact more with them. Yesterday was had some very interesting discussion, primarily consiting of making fun of each other for how was speak. They try really hard to "translate" information forme. So they ask if I want a "cookie" rather than a biscuit. Cookies in the UK are similar tomuffin tops here generally. Biscuits are cookies asweknow them. Digestives are a type of biscuit (crumbly). I also got flak because we call [View Full Entry]

Good Morning Everyone, Today I started my fourth week here at Deutsche Bank. I thought I would take time today to talk about how a typical day at DB is for me, and the British workforce in general. As I enter 99 Bishopsgate, the DB building that houses my department, I am greeted by security guards that look like they should have been part of the Matrix cast. The have their little Secret Service ear pieces and watch absolutely everything. Its a nice sense of security and makes it easier to work knowing that some random guy isn't going to be [View Full Entry]
