Day 21 - We got up very early to head to the Grand Canyon to do a hike. The idea didnt completely go to plan as we got a bit lost on the bus and left later than planned but we eventually got there! We set off down the Bright Angel trail which went down the canyon pretty steeply. We blistfully headed 3 miles down the canyon thinking it was a piece of cake, the only thing was that it got hotter the further down you went. Day 13 - We headed to Santa Fe which is a beautiful old like spanish town, i think the oldest in the USA dating from the 1600's. Small little markets and shops. All buildings have to be kept to the same colour...though they have a choice of 20 something shades of beige they may use! Here we had a look around all the little jewellery stalls along the streets...there were plenty all trying to sell their handmade jewellery from local stones. Day 17 - Invloved a hike around the "devils Garden" In Arches National Park. We really enjoyed this hike as it involved us climbing across large rocks and jumping over boulders. We got up pretty high and could see across part of the park and see how all the rocks had been separated and cracked over years and years by water that was once there. So the start of our America adventure begins. We had a little panic the night before our tour when we suddenly realized we had no idea where our Trek America tour was picking us up from and how far away from our hostel it was. After a little stress and sweat we managed to get to our starting point on time. Our first stop was to the finger lakes where we visited one of the tallest water falls in the North of America and also a couple of wineries on the way to our camp. Day 5 - Waking up with a sore head and a little worse for wear, we headed to the Makers Mark distillery where we were shown around and told how the whisky is made. There was a tasting at the end but at this point the smell was enough for us! Once our tour was over it was back in the van, straight to Nashville. A really interesting and different place. There were bands and solo artists playing every minute of everyday, with music blaring out of every bar down the strip with loads of bikers walking around with their Harley's [View Full Entry]

Day 9 - Mainly involved driving through Oklahoma - not much to say on this day apart from us visited somerandom large statues during our journey. Day 10 - went to Amarillo Texas through Oklahoma along part of route 66and stopped at a museum. Really interesting, talked about all the farmers who were asked to help build the road and their accounts. The children who would walk miles on a hot trek to bring the farmers water for a cent, how it enriched families lives etc. And how the law changed where by any man aged 21-30 something had to work [View Full Entry]

We've finally arrived after an 8hr flight, exhausted but ready for our adventure ahead! We only stepped out of the plane and already nearly conned by what seemed to be dodgy looking taxi drivers but we dodged pass them after we whacked them with our bags, they never saw that coming!
