Niagra, unlike Viagra did live up to its reputation indeed !!! A delightful and beautiful spectacle of nature on display awaits you if you decide to take the trip. I was in New york and took the short flight trip to Niagra. Flight leaves you in Baffalo the biggest city near the Canadian border. From Baffalo a short half hour drive to Niagra city. The falls is the down pour of Niagra river which runs between two large lakes. The river forms the natual boundary between USA and Canada. The falls is interrupted by an island of land called Goat [View Full Entry]

I am very fond of Windmills. Those quaint relics and remenents of bygone civilization have always held my mind in sway. My very first encounter with European windmills was in 2002 when I noticed in our Internet photo club "www.usefilm.com" a member from Holland Mr.Teunis Haveman, started to post beautiful images of windmills. He has collected so many to make a large portfolio dedicated to windmills http://www.usefilm.com/photographer.asp?P=2&ID=17434&PF=4676 . I was drawn into it out of curiosity and by their sumptuous beauty. So I wrote to Tuenis if I could visit his country side to see [View Full Entry]

What a beautful and charming trip down the country side. Started at the Tenderton town station - wonderful little old English station meticulously preserved with pride by the local volunteers who are rightfuly proud about their herritage railways. The station has a small ticket office and a waiting room with 1930s pram parked in the middle of it to create the ambience of a bygone era ! The staffs attired in vintage style uniforms and dark hats, were eager to please and serve. When I entered the station, the steam engine was just being coupled to the main carriages. Rotang Pass Asia » India » Jammu & Kashmir » Leh
Rohtang pass is at 4000 meters high and Great place for winter sport holidays - full of snow and mind bending scenarios. The huge mountains peppered with snow flakes make a majestic vistas for the weary traveler. Great canyons at their deep floors are amazing to appreciate - makes one so small and humble. The journey took about 2 hours to reach up there. What a journey - great experience at the extremes, at one end the sheer beauty of the place took me by amazement and the other end the terrible and miserable pot-holed road making the journey a [View Full Entry]

Qutub Minar Asia » India » National Capital Territory » New Delhi
This a splendid brick tower built by three different kings to its completion. It has wonderful art work carved into it all over. Sadly the Muslim rulers of India either demolished the hindu tempels or converted them into Islamic mosque. Those intolerant attitude has left a indelible scar in Hindus psyche for ever. That is reflected in the rise of Hindu nationalism in India. Qutub minar is built in a temple which was converted to a mausoleum. The once Hindu temple altar is now a burial ground !!! Talk about intolerance - this is one of extreme examples of Islamic intolerance [View Full Entry]

Indian railway history dates back more than 100 years when the British first introduced the steam train in 1853 between Bombay and Thana. Since then Indian railways have come a long way. The vast network is divided and managed by 6 major dvisions such as Southern railway for south, Northeastern railway and so on. Almost all the nooks and corners of India can be reached by rail. For such a vast country that is a major achievement indeed. On top of that India manufactures all its carriages and engines indegenously, nothing is imported. As a result Indian railways is the largest [View Full Entry]

We wanted to go to a lake called Pangong and that took us over the top the world and third highest motoring road on earth at 5300 meters - Changla Pass. Pangong is 60KM from there. Our driver asked me if he could bring his two sisters with us as they have not seen Pangong lake. I said ok and those two girls were wonderful and innocent country girls added bit of fun. One of them developed travel sickness and kept vomiting every half hour. It was rather sad to see someone sick as a paratte. The mountain road starts about [View Full Entry]

I was in Leh in November 2006 traveling with my parents. I stayed there for 4 days. What a beautiful place. The landscape was absolutely fabulous with so many snow capped mountains all around. These road signs caught my eye - what a hilarous and funny way to warn the drivers to reduce their speed. THE FUNNY THING IS - the roads in India are so bad that you CAN NOT SPEED EVEN IF YOU WANT TO !!! [View Full Entry]

Achill Island Europe » Ireland » County Mayo » Westport
Achill Island Interesting name for a tiny, picturesque island off the west coast of Ireland. It might be tiny in size, but it holds the record as "biggest" island off the coast of Ireland ! Great place to spend a weekend off to escape the stresses of the urban life. I love driving around the country side and I happen to discover this place by chance as I was driving around the beautiful and tranquil Connemera coast. As of all Ireland, Achill is no exception - needs the sun to be out and about to shine its magnificent beauty of the [View Full Entry]

Hi Folks, Last weekend we went for a hotair balloon ride. What a magnificent experience that was ! I collected Elena my friend and her daughters Loriana and Barbara and drove to Trim, a place near Dublin. It turned out to be a perfect day with cristal clear skies and gentle breeze - ideal for a balloon flight. We all met our hotair balloon pilot, the congenial and friendly Victor from Argentina and his team in the Trim castle, near Dublin. He collected all of us in his van and took us to the launching field, a large green field with [View Full Entry]
