In the last week of April I was driving listening to the radio in Ireland. A garden expert was talking about some strange garden in Amsterdam, Netherlands called Guekenhof (Keukenhof). He extolled it dearly. It was May bank holliday weekend, I had not other plans. So I packed up my bags and went to visit Keukenhof. Flew by Rayan airways to Eindovan airport. Unfortunately 31st of april is Queens day and the whole of Netherland goes crazy, celebrating their queen. That means 3 hours extra wait in the bus stand for the Amsterdam connection ! while in the airport met this [View Full Entry]

This about a trip I took to Northampton in UK some time last year, to meet my internet photoclub members. The group had only been interacting online but never met each other. So it was kind of exiting to meet the group to put a face to their online 'nick' names. It was sometime in early April and the spring was just about in the air. I left Ireland on a early morning flight to Luton where Den, the organizer of the meeting picked me up and drove to Northampton. There I met Margaret, Den's partner and also a club member. Volcanic Lanzorote Europe » Spain » Canary Islands
Lanzorote is a Spainish Island off the west coast of Africa, just adjastent to Moroco. Takes about 5 hours flight from London. Lanzorote is a one of the 5 major island of the Canaries island group. The others are Tenirief, Grand canaria, Fortventura and La Palma islands. When the flight approached the Island, my heart simply sank - all I could see was one big mass of charred and blackened earth. Nothing else. No greenery, no trees or plants - just black soil everywhere. It was very strange feeling as if being on an another planet. After landing, the coach took us [View Full Entry]

Kempfort Shiva temple Asia » India » Karnataka » Bangalore
Happen to visit Bangalor for one day. Went shopping in Kemp fort shopping center whose exterior is a copy of the 'Excalibur' casino, in Lasvegas. At the back of the shopping mall there is this Shiva temple with its gigantic Shiva and Ganesha statues. Rather unsual scene comparing to other normal hindu temples. It will be the tower of the temple which will dominate the archetecture but here it is the Shiva statue which takes the prime attention. [View Full Entry]

Charming Goa Asia » India » Goa
I visited Goa between 24th Feb to 10th march. Went on a package tour by Thomsons/Lunpolly from Gatwick airport. Well, about my experience in Goa - it turned out to be a very pleasant holiday. I was kind of very disappointed about the diving as I had plans for diving for 10 days. The water was so murkey and I got a closptophobic attack while under the water. It wasn't pleasant. So I cancelled all my diving. My parents joined me next day after the Ingles visit. It was wonderful to see them after two years. I asked them to stay [View Full Entry]

Houses of Goa Asia » India » Goa
I am just back from that serene, relaxing and yet magestic Goa. What a marvelous place on earth. Pity, its only now being recognised as a holiday destination in the recent times. Goa has got just about every thing - Beautiful beeches on the west coast, sumptuous sunset to keep you enchanted, Coconut palm sprinkeled landscape, small and yet imposing hills, water sports like surfing and jet skies, great restuarents to please the connousiers and very very friendly and laid-back people permitting the forginers to mix and mingle wihtout any fear or restrainment. As if these were not enough - [View Full Entry]

I visited Luxor in November 2004. Went to Hurgada, a red sea resort for scuba diving. Luxor is about 4 hours bus journey from there. Due to terrorist fear - all the tour buses are clumpled together and taken as a convoy with full military security to Luxor. The convoys will stretch more than a mile as so many tourists are visiting Luxor. Incredible Luxor Nowadays Luxor is a small, sleepy and rather dirty town. However, it was the major capital and cultural center during the Pharo times - that is 2700 years BC. All the pharo kings were competing with [View Full Entry]
