I surfaced this morning with all the grace of a 747 on take off, how many more ways can I describe the phenomenon that is getting out of bed? I have the beginnings of a cold I believe, feel a tad snuffly...hopefully it won't manifest into anything too serious, full blown terminal man flu is the last thing on my agenda!! The one o'clock bus was late so by the time I arrived in the City, I was behind schedule...well, I would have been had I had one!! Today's excursion took me to the Maritime Museum on the South Bank and [View Full Entry]

I was rudely awakened at 6.10am by my mobile alarm ringing, indicating that it wanted me to get my arse out of bed...and ten minutes later, it rang again...telling me that it wasn’t joking!! Who invented the snooze button anyway!!! I then proceeded to make my sleepy way to the kitchen and fumbled about for the coffee jar...me without caffeine is like a penguin without a wrapper, so once I had my fix, I was now finally ready to go play golf. It was a lovely morning and ambling around the course without a care in the world was just bliss. [View Full Entry]

I have finally finished my book...for all of you who have been following the storyline Matt ended up being the murderer, He was shot at the end by his sister Cherry and Avery and Hunter drove off into the distance together complete with dog and puppies. Today, after having a quick waffle to Terri the T...I took the now shorter stroll to the nearby bus stop and went into the city to see what I could find today. There was a street magician called Steve London (quirky huh) who was bamboozling passers by with his novelty tricks, a bloke with a [View Full Entry]

Something truly bizarre happened this morning, I slept in until ten o'clock...so by the time I was breakfasted, showered and shaved it was pretty much half past eleven!! For the first time since arriving in Brisbane, I jumped on the 353 into the City from the stop literally just over the road...why I have been trekking half way across the district to the 345 route for no obvious reason is now worrying me!! I had a good wander in town today taking in Queens Plaza shopping mall, Mick O'Malleys Irish Bar (where I encountered a very strange individual called Francis who [View Full Entry]

I crawled out of bed and to the kettle at 9am today and spent the morning researching Greyhound coach fares to both Byron Bay (for Caroline and Elizabeth visit) and Chinchilla in readiness for the 2009 Melon Festival. Once I had both those figured out (and pretty cheaply too), Mike re-introduced me to the wonders of Macgyver...which I had actually forgotten how good it was. Indeed, using chocolate to seal a leaking acid tank was pure genius!! My nostalgia intake fulfilled, I took a long stroll to the bus stop and hopped onto the 345 bus into the City to continue [View Full Entry]

I was awoken early at 4.30am from my slumber by the sound of giggling girls before a car started up and pulled away. Having finally drifted back off to sleep, I was then interrupted for the second time by the now all too familiar sound of the bird's everyday 'dawn chorus' outside my bedroom window. Having been disturbed twice, I gave up on the idea of sleeping and reached under my bed for my book and caught up with the continued antics of Avery and Hunter, whom it appears she is sleeping with now! I have now come to the conclusion [View Full Entry]

I surfaced early this morning like a submarine rising through the waves, not quite as dramatically but you get the effect yeah? Today's mission was a trip to The Brisbane Gallery Of Modern Arts 'Optimism' exhibition which was absolutely insane!!! The most novel exhibits were Patricia Piccinini's converted Vespa's, Kate Murphy's 'Cry Me A Future' which featured a video of herself listening to her late grandmothers voice with tears streaming down her face...which made everyone want to cry and best of all, Tom Moore's 'Auto-ganics', which I can only describe as Chorton and The Wheelies meets the [View Full Entry]

I have been in Brisbane a whole week now and today I embarked on my second self guided proper tour of the City this time taking in the Queensland Museum and Brisbane Art Gallery. The exact definition of art worries me especially having just seen the most un-artistic exhibit I have ever seen in my entire life... a framed piece of corrugated cardboard which looked like it had just been taken out of a Christmas Hamper with a few random folds in it! That's not Art!!! It's 'Crap'!!! Having picked myself up from the floor after laughing myself silly, I then [View Full Entry]

It's Thursday...and I think today is the first of my travels where I have actually made a mental note of what day it is. The morning came and went without anything of note happening and it wasn't until mid-afternoon that the first newsworthy event occurred...a bell ringing!! For a short moment, I was pretty excited thinking it was a rag and bone man complete with horse and cart...I haven't seen one of those since I was a kid...imagine my disappointment when I realised what the source of this noise was...an ice cream van!! Don't ice cream vans normally play jolly musical [View Full Entry]
