We woke up this morning with just enough time to brush our teeth and leave just before checkout. We hadn't unpacked our things so it was a very quick and easy move. The girl working at Riverside hostel was lovely and welcoming and got us settled in our room nice and quickly. Our room is not fantastic as the blind doesn't work and there isn't actually a main light in the room, however it is a million times better than Alfa hostel. We sat in the room for a while and perused our literature on Budapest and planned out our first [View Full Entry]

We thought yesterdays early morning was bad enough, but this morning was stupidly early. We awoke at half past six and consumed large amounts of breakfast before arriving at the train station for seven forty. I had all the timings planned out, however our large breakfast must have slowed us down because we had to run to catch the train. We were both pretty shattered and collapsed in a carriage of our own and dozed on and off for the next couple of hours. We spread ourselves out on the chairs and pulled the curtains across so that no one passing [View Full Entry]

This morning was possibly our earliest start yet in our travels, we even made time for breakfast. We caught the bus to Postojna pretty easily and the journey took us approximately an hour. We knew that the cave tours didn't begin until ten in the morning, however the bus timetable really didn't mesh with the cave timetable in any way shape or form. We jumped off the bus at the station which is in the middle of the town, it felt like a ghost town. It was ten to nine in the morning but there was very little movement anywhere. We [View Full Entry]

The temptation of breakfast was great enough that I actually got up for it despite feeling seriously sleep deprived. We didn't really have plans for the day, so when breakfast was finished we returned to our room after putting on a wash. We both slept for a while however it was Rob who had to drag me out of bed to ensure that we actually did something in the day. When we both were ready we walked over to the other side of the water and found ourselves caught up in a mass of tourists perusing the markets. We had a [View Full Entry]

Today we got up early so that we could get to lake Bled and get back in time for the ice hockey match we had bought tickets for. After enjoying another buffet breakfast we made our way to the bus station, although we were unsure as to where it was. I had seen that it was in front of the train station from the map but had no idea where to buy tickets; we went into the train station, I went to the ticket desk and Steph to the information and we both found out that it was the kiosk type [View Full Entry]

We had been fore-warned that there was some work being done at Park Hotel thay may cause a little disturbance from 9-5. We had set our alarm for nine so that we could waken \ without the sound of drilling. Around twenty past eight we were woken by the sound of hammering; we ignored it and continued to lay in bed until the incessant drilling began just before nine. We couldn't stand the loudness of it and reluctantly got up and went for breakfast. Surprisingly breakfast was completely worth getting up for. There was cereal, bread, spreads, cheese, meats, cooked stuffs, [View Full Entry]

We woke up early however there wasn't a cat in hells chance we were getting through the bathroom so I jumped into Rob's bed to wait. We lay there for about an hour whilst the rude German men, completely oblivious to anyone else took their time showering etc. Eventually there were only a few lingerers so I "politely" explained that I couldn't get dressed with them all hanging around. We dressed quickly but still had to ask to get a chance to go to the bathroom with each German presuming it was their birth right to go in the bathroom first [View Full Entry]

We stayed in bed whilst people began getting up around us. In dorm rooms you have two strategies for mornings; firstly you can try and get up first and beat everyone else to the bathroom, however this may easily fail if someone has an early train etc. The second (and preferred) option is to lounge around in bed until the majority of people have left and then use the hostel facilities at leisure. We opted for the second option and attempted to stay in bed until the majority of the Aussies were up. Irritatingly the hostel owners had chosen a period [View Full Entry]

Getting up this morning was a bit of a farce because there were too many people trying to get through one bathroom. We waited until most people were awake before we got up and ready. Unfortunately the weather was bad and it took us a while to motivate ourselves to leave the warm dryness of the hostel. We attempted to get on the internet to send the obligatory "we're safe" e-mail, but there were just too many people in the small common room. We walked out of the hostel and into the rain. Rob immediately began complaining about people being lethal [View Full Entry]

Last night was the worst nights sleep I have had since we began travelling. It was around two in the morning before I dropped off. Around quarter past five we were abruptly woken by a group of men arriving at the hostel. With it being such a minute place, our beds were right by the front door. Not only did they talk loudly for ages but they left the door wide open until it was freezing inside. At one point Rob Sshhed them and one man just laughed. Eventually things quietened down and we thought we would get a few hours [View Full Entry]
