We enjoyed a morning lounging in bed and avoiding getting dressed in a very cold room. Just as we were about to get up someone knocked at our door to remind us checkout time was in fifteen minutes. When Rob reminded him we were staying two nights, he didn't even apologise for disturbing us. Once we were up we went into the souqs in search of bread and cheese for our picnic. We found baguettes easily enough but the only cheese we could find was at the overpriced supermarket for westerners. We tried a few of the cremeries which are little [View Full Entry]

Approaching The Kasbah

We got up nice and early and had our slightly tedious breakfast of bread and spreads. We wanted to leave immediately after finishing breakfast but we had to wait for the second load of laundry to be returned. We left our tips for the nicer members of staff and left. We arrived at the station early for our 10am bus. A guy there sold us tickets and tried to charge us 10dh each for baggage. Slightly tired of the whole ordeal now we refused and paid only 5dh which left him peeved. We were glad not to have over paid because [View Full Entry]

Fountain In Ouarzazate

Due to crossed wires we nearly missed breakfast this morning. We dressed hurriedly and dashed up to the terrace to find it completely empty. Breakfast was outside by the pool and fairly good. We decided that because there were no particular sights in Taroudannt we would have a walk around the walls and a look around the streets in the medina. Taroudannt's medina is similar to Marrakech with the chaos and mass of people but without the tourist traps and hustlers. Here you are more likely to be stopped by someone wanting to chat to you and try out their French/English. [View Full Entry]

Death Of A Kaiser

 Africa » Morocco » Souss » Taroudannt
We woke up and gathered our things together and checked out of the hotel. We left our bags there so we could get breakfast in the square. We returned to a place we had visited our first time in Agadir. We ordered the set petit dejouner and thoroughly enjoyed a freshly squeezed fruit juice and harcha drizzled with honey. In true Moroccan style everything was laid back and unhurried which normally we would love, but this morning we needed to be on our way. We stood at the crossroads and attempted to flag down a petit taxi which was difficult enough, [View Full Entry]

I was woken up this morning from a nice sleep because Steph wasn't. We didn't get breakfast at the hotel, so instead we nipped into a tiny little shop and bought two baguettes with cheese and two yoghurts so that we could have a picnic in the beautiful surroundings. We picked out one of the largest rocky mountains and decided to climb it to get a good view of the town and its locality. Now anyone who knows Steph will be hearing warning bells already, but for some reason she agreed to going up it?! To be honest I think it [View Full Entry]

Enroute To Tafroute

 Africa » Morocco » Souss » Tafraoute
Hotel Atlas was one of our more expensive choices for Morocco, but the promise of a "fantastic spread" for breakfast swayed the decision. Hah ! They brought out an omelette with chicken in even though I said I was vegetarian. We did get a nice pancakey thing, but it was burnt and cold, and the basket of bread was stale. Once we had finished we asked when the next bus to Tiznit was and he said in ten minutes. We dashed to the stop only to find we had missed it. A grand taxi was waiting with three other passengers who [View Full Entry]

Not Quite Tenerife

 Africa » Morocco » Guelmim » Mirleft
We woke up to find an infestation of flies in our room. They were everywhere and kept on landing on us. We dressed hurriedly and opened the doors and windows so they could escape. We were told that there were buses to Mirleft and with the memory of our grand taxi ordeal too fresh in our Minds; we deigned to wait for the bus. Overnight the weather had changed from blistering heat to gale force winds. We sat and waited for the bus whilst dust and gravel was blowing everywhere; we were covered and had it in our hair, mouths and [View Full Entry]

We did a good job of getting up early and on the instructions of the guys working in the hotel we set off down a road to find a few bus companies that were going to Tiznit. None of them were any use and all said we should go to the main bus station which is a considerable distance out of town. We opted against that and wandered over to the grand taxi area to see if we could get join a collective to Tiznit. 26dh each felt like a good deal until we got into the back seat with two [View Full Entry]

Rob's perpetual moaning about our continuous early mornings finally won over as we spent the morning in bed. Even once we were awake we laid in bed chatting until we figured we really should get up. We had planned to spend the day at the beach but one step outside halted that plan. It was scolding hot and the thermometer in the shade said 32°C. We took the short walk down to the front and due to the complete lack of shade needed to hide somewhere. It was dinner time but the strip of overpriced pizzaria's weren't entirely enticing, the best [View Full Entry]

We got up too early this morning, we were even up before the sun. The stalls were only beginning to set up as we walked down the streets to the bus station. We wanted to buy food for lunch but only found a stall selling brown bananas which we bought four of. We arrived at nine for the nine thirty bus to find that it was already pretty full. It was another rickety vehicle with scruffy seats and worse leg room than ryanair. As we were waiting to put our bags in the hold of the bus, we stood next to [View Full Entry]
