Looks to be a busy week. Studying options for my vacation. The plan for the first week so far is to replace those roof vents on my RV next Monday-Tuesday weather permitting. Then on Wednesday the 27th (Laura's Birthday) go to San Antonio to Visit my sister Laura probably getting a 3 day rental at the Studio 6 for those 3 days. Then on Saturday evening take Laura to Bryan for the weekend returning at Monday Noon in order to be there to get Justin off the bus. While in San Antonio will visit the Zoo and the Egypt exhibit as well as of course The Original Mexican restaurant at the Riverwalk. If Laura's husband Joe doesn't mind Laura staying out a bit later will probably go to the Howl at the Moon saloon as well. ... read more

Went home to Bryan to visit my mother who is recovering from surgery. At 87 she has a firm grip on life and doesn't intend letting go. We had a pleasant evening visiting with her and my Sister and brother in Law as well as my brother. Bryan is one of the most nothing happening places in the world. Pretty much all there is to do is watch TV or shop. Neither of which I fancy very much. I do enjoy turning down the TV and visiting with my family very much.... read more

Took off work today. Went to Fire Bowl cafe in Roundrock for dinner. It was OK and plenty of it. Just something to put in the hole. Afterwards I went to Barnes and Noble to use their wireless internet to check out things at work and look for a campground directory. Bought a Trailer Life RV park and campground directory and also a Foders New York City 2011 guidebook as well as a large New York City map. Alltogether they ran me about $58.34 but I consider them an investment. Investing a little money to save a lot of time and stress later. I try and know as much as I can about a place before I go there. Particularly how to get from there to there using the public transit. I know last time I ... read more

October 13 5:46 AM Up late as usual. Went to bed early so I could get an early start this morning and as usual woke up around 2300 and have been up all night working on various projects and reading travel blogs. Will probably go to bed later as usual and sleep all day. Hopefully after I retire I can get my sleep adjusted but even in the best of circumstances I rarely go to bed before 0300. My normal sleep cycle seems to be 0300-1100. Which is fine with me actually. Am currently looking for a camper top for the back of my truck. This is so I can put stuff back there and not worry about it raining. Also I have an extended cab truck and want to take out all the stuff I ... read more

Starting to think I probably will save New York for later and get the roof coated on my RV as well as attend to other long delayed work. Also will see the things left on my list in this area during my vacation, such as The Armored Forces museum at Ft Hood, The Texas Rangers museum in Waco, the train museum in Temple, and the Jail museum in Cameron, the Museum of the Pacific war in Fredericksburg, and of course San Antonio. After I start collecting my annuity I doubt that I will be back in this part of Texas again. Will have San Antonio as my "home base" while I am in Texas. Rather than a brief expensive trip to New York figure I will go after I retire in December for the Christmas ... read more

Currently have RV parked in Georgetown, Texas. Am working on setting up a Fall trip to New York City. I have booked a room at The Morningside Inn near Central Park for the weekend of October 29-31. I booked the room through hostelbookers.com. This is a new experience to me as far as it goes. Quite a leap of faith. I have thouroughly canvansed the budget hotels and hostels in New York and this one seems to be the best bet. I went over the reviews and they were overwhelmingly positive. Some negative of course but that is always the case. I booked a single ensuite for $80 a day for 3 days. This will be an exploratory trip for me as when I start collecting my annuity in December I will be traveling all the ... read more
