10th - 13th Dec We arrived in Byron on the 10th Dec, and headed straight to the Byron YHA, which was only 5 mins from the bus stop, we settled into our dorm which was nice and then headed out for a wander round. Byron was very busy with lots of people, it is a real laid back town, and very hippyish too. Overall we really liked what we saw, it was about a 10 minute walk up to the beach so everything was quite close. Also Woolworths was only 2 mins and the bottle shop too. The Yha was good [View Full Entry]

8-10th Dec. We moved from Brisbane onto Surfers Paradise, been given mixed reviews of the place but wanted to see it for myself, found it looked like Miami Beach with all the high rise apartments and hotels, but overall I liked it, great beaches and a real holiday feel to it, somewhere people def go just for holidays I think living there would be too much, its very american and slightly cheesy but worth a few nights there. We stayed at Cheers Backpackers which was an okj location but the beds were appalling, thin mattresses on metal bunks were just really [View Full Entry]

3rd - 7th Dec - We travelled down from Noosa into Brisbane, We were booked into the Aussie Way Backpackers which luckily was only 10 min walk from the Bus Station, took longer as most of the footpaths were being done so you had to keep crossing from one side to the other which was annoying went its blimmin hot and got a big backpack to carry !!!! The Hostel was nice a converted colonnial style home on Cricket Street, so reasonally quiet and away from the traffic. After settling in we headed up to Queen St mall which is the [View Full Entry]

29th Nov - We left Hervey Bay down to Noosa, was only a couple of hours journey so not too bad, we booked ourselves into the Noosa Backpackers into a Dorm room. The hostel was really nice, very busy as lots of people staying there at the moment. They do a courtesy bus as its a little way from the main beach. The location was good, though at the end of the road you have one of the rivers so nice to fish or go for a stroll. Also only 10 mins from Woolworths for your food etc. Also the bar [View Full Entry]

19th Nov - We left Magnetic Island to head to Airlie Beach for our trip around the Whitsundays. We stayed at Koalas Resort, which we wouldnt recommend especially if you want a Double Room, as we were put behind Moroccos Bar which banged out Music till 2pm every night so we didnt sleep at all. Then we found out our Camera Memory card had got a virus and lost all our photos since we had been away and that can be caught by using your USB in internet cafes, so we were gutted. So from now on CD only !!!!! On [View Full Entry]

They are Units of 5 rooms with 2 bathrooms and a kitchen with plates etc provided. Close to the Beach and supermarket, they also do a 6pm bus run to the bottle shop !!!!! and do all you can eat (Dominos) pizza for $10. 26th Nov we was up and checked out by 6.30am for the Fraser Island camping briefing, we then were put into groups of 8 for each 4x4 and [View Full Entry]

16th Nov - We headed out of mission on the greyhound down to Townsville where you catch the ferry over to Magnetic Island. We booked ourselves on the Koala Express which was a deal for 2 nights at the Bungalow Bay Koala Village. We had a cute little A framed bungalow ( a mini shed !!!) We were joined at the village with Shannon and Chloe who we met in Mission Beach. We were 2 mins from Horseshoe bay which was a lovely beach and had a few little bars and shops. Our first night we headed up to a Tapas [View Full Entry]

14th Nov - Headed down to Mission Beach for a 2 night stay at the Treehouse Hostel, which is slightly outside Mission Beach but was really great, its a hostel that is slightly back on mound surrounded by shrubbery and woody area its like a treehouse all wood and up and down to rooms and the lounge and kitchen. It had a lovely atmosphere about it there. We had a clean double room and the pool was lovely too. We met a few people there who we have travelled with since. Mission Beach itself was pretty dull not much there and [View Full Entry]

11th Nov - We headed on a tour up to Cape Tribulation, stopping on the way for a trip on a Daintree River cruise to spot some crocs, unfortunately only saw 2 babies so nothing too big and scary, we then had a small rainforest walk which was nice and cooling out of the sun, then next stop out accommodation which was at trhe Ferntree Rainforest Lodge, it was lovely with 2 pools, we were staying in dorms and only had one dorm pal Alain from Switzerland who was never in the room so pretty much had the place to ourselves, [View Full Entry]
