Hervey Bay & Fraser Island

25th Nov - We arrived early morning into Hervey Bay after a long 12 hour greyhound ride. We stayed in Palace Backpackers which is a great place to stay. They are Units of 5 rooms with 2 bathrooms and a kitchen with plates etc provided. Close to the Beach and supermarket, they also do a 6pm bus run to the bottle shop !!!!! and do all you can eat (Dominos) pizza for $10.

26th Nov we was up and checked out by 6.30am for the Fraser Island camping briefing, we then were put into groups of 8 for each 4x4 and headed out to grab the camping gear and do the group shop for all our food and drinks for the 3 days. We caught the 11am ferry to Fraser and got onto the Island about 11.45, we headed straight to the Eastern Beach adn up towards Eli Creek where we stopped for lunch, then on past the Maheno Ship Wreck and onto Indian Head and Champagne Pools. We headed to a camping ground just near the ship wreck and got settled just in time for the rain !!!!

27th Nov - Next morning we packed up and walked up to the ship wreck for some snaps, as the tide was too high to drive on the beach and then onto Eli Creek again for a paddle and some more lunch. After we headed to Lake Wabby, was a nice 2.3km trek from the beach to the lake through the forest. We got to the lake and had a nice swim and chilled out for an hour in the sun. After headed back our camp ground was only a few hundred metres away, so we set up camp and got cooking, was visited a few times by Mr Dingo aswell which put me off going to find somewhere to go to the toilet !!!!! After a few drinkiung games we hit the sack or should I say hard floor !!!!

28th Nov - we got up and packed up and headed straight to Lake McKenzie which was lovely, blue water and white sands and with the hot sun made for a lovely few hours of chilling time. Got a few group pics of us in the water which seemed what everyone was doing !!!!. Sadly we had to head back to the ferry for the 4pm ferry back to Hervey Bay.

Was such a great few days totally recommend hiring a 4x4 and camping !!!! altho did look forward to sleeping in a bed again !!!:)
