Hey Im Michelle, from Southend on Sea, Essex
Planning to head off travelling with my boyfriend Matt in November 2007.
After a few poo years and years of working in the city i decided there is more to life than being stuck doing the usual 9 to 5 etc etc and time to hit the open road as such. When me and matt got together in 2006 I had wanted to go travelling for a while luckily for me matt wants to come along, So house sold, renting for 6 months temping so have more money and just getting everything together as we go along !!!!
Reading everyones comments/blogs to help me with my travels which really are such a help !!!!
20th March 2008 We landed at heathrow back to 7 degree weather it was 6.30am and after 13 hours we were very tired indeed. we were picked up by a taxi company and finally got home about 8.30am. My dad was there but my mum was at work, she didnt know we were coming home it was a surprise. Once in and after a nice hot bath I headed straight round to my friend Zoe (none of my friends new I was coming home) Zoe had just had her baby George a few days before, I was so excited about seeing them both. That evening, I drove and picked up my mum from work, I took my dads car so as normal she was picked up by him. It wasnt until I pulled up and she

Once we reached the border of Malaysia and Singapore we waited on the train and immigration staff boarded and squiggles in your passport I assume this was like our Malaysia Exit stamp. Once the train then headed over the causeway into Singapore island we had to get off the train with all our luggage and queue up at Passport control for our Singapore entry stamp this seemed to take ages for some reason. They wait till everyone is through before re opening the doors for you to re board

He charged us 15 ringgit which I tried for lowere but he wasnt having any of it. Couldnt complain too much it was only £2.50. as it was so ealry the roads were empty and we got taken straight to our hotel 'Swiss Inn' it was right in the centre of Chinatown so a great location for the bustling market. I had found the hotel on line, for a double room with hot shower and Tv we paid £22 a night, as we were near to the end of our travels we splurged slightly... It was a nice

With that and the other crowds it can take a long time. We were picked up at 7.30am and by the time the van was full and we were on our way it was 8.20. Onto the first car ferry and across onto Lanta Nok the northern Island then we queued for ages to get onto the next car ferry over to the mainland. We finally arrived in Trang at just after 12pm. The next van we had to get was from Trang to Hat Yai, After getting that and finally on our way we got

I had booked us into the Lanta Garden Home on Khlong Dao Beach, luckily they were at the pier so we got a lift to the guesthouse, the place was nothing special. I had booked a hut for 500 bahts a night but for some reason it wasnt available so she gave us the aircon room with 2 double beds, which was normally over a 1000 bahts a night. Well although it was nice I wouldnt pay a 1000 bahts a night for it, I had stayed in much nice for cheaper and with hot water and TV !!!! As I had already

Once arrived with the usual manic at piers. We got a long tai boat to take us round to Long beach where i had booked the PP Hill Resort for 3 nights. When we arrived we had to climg up a walkway to the bottom of the resort and then had to climb about 100 steps up to reception. Luckily the bags are sent up by a little trolley pulley thing. We had a big room but it was really naff for the money we were paying. (600 bahts) There was no plug sockets so you couldnt

We jumped into a taxi to Chaweng and was dropped off at our guesthouse Baan Rom Mai. First you have to walk through which looks like a car yard for all the taxis and there is the guesthouse. The gardens are beautiful and its so cosy and we had a nice little room (550 bhts a night) Over the road you could walk through the other hotels etc onto the main Chaweng Beach and about a 10 minuted walk took you

When we got there all they had was rooms that were 1300 bahts a night, and with our budget at 500 totally out of our price range, Matt stayed with the bags and I headed up and down the pathway that runs along by the beach to other places again only 1300+ a night then I managed to find a room for 350 which was awful but we needed somewhere to stay for a night and look again the next day, as I went back Sairee cottages had then got a room
