Yo, Its been a while. apart from updates on facebook, i haven't had much of the blog side of things, mum has stolen the show :P. We have been having a BRILLIANT time in Darwin, mum hates camping, and i cant see why. if its the dirt, what did she expect on a 'Camping' trip x3. She isn't in her element, me however, i like this side of the holiday, i have transformed my 'bunk' into a mini version of my room, things within 'arms reach' for when i could need em. or as mum would call my simple organization and [View Full Entry]

We arrived at Cooinda at lunchtime on 23/7/2009. To make the most of our time there we booked ourselves onto a sunset cruise of Yellow water and a safari for the following day. Richards choice, we are going walkabout to see how the traditional Aboriginal people live. Interesting but I dont think it will be a luxury event! The Yellow water Cruise was fantastic. Our Guide Mark was great. He really was larger than life in more ways than one and he brought the whole trip to life. We were treated to some amazing sights and he shared his extensive knowledge [View Full Entry]

Hi Folks. Well here we are in Kakadu. First I must admit to not being a natural camper! I was all for giving back the campervan and going to a hotel on day 1; but here we are on day 3 and I am suprised to say I am starting to have fun. The campsites are great and the people we have met and the facilities they offer are making our outback experience much more comfortable than I expected. We are off to Cooinda in a few minutes. we are planning to stay there for 2 or 3 days and make [View Full Entry]

The meal we had last night was amazing. We decided to take a cab into the centre because time had just ran away with us and I asked the taxi driver 'Woody' where he would reccomend as a good place to eat. He said he personally liked 'Dundees'. It was a smart restaurant on the waterfront and the meals were more expensive than our normal choices but we decided that as it was almost the end of our stay here we would push the boat out a bit. The menu was really different. I decided to be adventuous and chose the [View Full Entry]

Well here I am again with quite a few days to catch up. The internet access here doesn't allow us to upload photos which is such a shame because the views and sights that I would love to share with you are amazing. Our first full day in Cains was spent getting our bearings really. We walked from the resort 'The Lakes' which is fabulous, into Cairns Town along the Espanade. The Esplanade is a lovely walkway along the edge of the ocean into the town. It has numerous jettys and public recreation areas all along it and the whole thing [View Full Entry]

It has been my intention to bring everyone up to speed with what we have been up to but again we have been too busy just doing. We had a great time at Karen, Mark and Todds and too much wine and chat to make time for the pool. Much to Dad's relief. Our visit with family ended with a get together on Saturday and Karen organised a suprise birthday party for me. It was a lovely suprise with cake and everything It was lovely to be so spoiled for the day even if it was a bit early. Richard had [View Full Entry]

Sorry for keep doing this in such big chunks but we are just too busy doing stuff! The only problem is that now that it is Thursday morning, I am having trouble remembering what we did when. I did have great plans to keep a diary but again we are filling our time so much that I dont get chance to make notes. Anyhow, since arriving here in Mt Gambier we have been mainly catching up with family, visiting the 'sights', eating, drinking eating and drinking some more and generally having a great time. The people here are so lovely. Very [View Full Entry]

Hong Kong could really teach us a thing or two about air travel.(take note terminal 5) Wow do they have it sorted. Everything seemed to flow like a dream. We got the courtesy bus from the hotel and we were delivered to Kowloon where we checked in our luggage and proceeded to the airport via the 'Airport Express'. Before we knew it we were settling into our seats aboard the plane. Dont know what sort, sorry. (It had wings and wheels and seemed to fly OK.) Managed to get a bit of sleep and fitted in a couple of films before [View Full Entry]

What a trip that was. Plane hopping? i don't mind it, but i do mind the airport's mess ups!. Hong Kong, a brezze, so civilised and easy, check in at the train station in about 5 minutes. get on the train, straight to out aircraft afterwards, but a loooong flight to Sydney! Arival in Sydney, picking up our baggage, we go shuffling slowly through the airport to our flight. that was in an hour ... we went to customs. and an aussie lady told me to go down the middle "Hard left. Go." so turning, we breezed through a gap in [View Full Entry]
